본 연구의 목적은 남편의 성역할 태도, 자아존중감, 자기노출 및 남편이 지각한 아내의 자기노출이 결혼만족도에 어떠한 영향을 미치는 지를 살펴보는 것이다. 보다 구체적으로 본 연구에서는 경로모형을 통해 남편의 성역할 태도와 자아존중감이 자기노출을 매개로 하여 결혼만족도에 영향을 미치는지를 살펴보았다. 이를 위하여 기혼 남성 328명을 대상으로 성역할 태도 척도, 자아존중감 척도, 감정적 자기노출 척도 및 결혼만족도 척도를 이용하여 설문조사를 실시하였다. 그 결과 남편의 자아존중감이 높을수록 결혼에서의 만족을 더 크게 경험하며 자기노출을 많이 할수록 결혼만족도가 높은 것으로 나타났다. 반면 성역할 태도가 보수적일수록 결혼만족도는 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 또한 경로모형에서는 자아존중감과 성역할태도, 자기노출이 모두 결혼만족도에 영향을 미치는 중요한요인이라는 것이 나타났으며 자기노출은 자아존중감과 결혼만족도 사이의 관계를 부분 매개하지만 성역할 태도와 결혼만족도 사이의 관계를 매개하지는 않는 것으로 나타났다. 즉, 자아존중감은 결혼만족도에 직접적으로 영향을 미치며 자기노출을 통해 간접적으로도 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으나 성역할 태도는 결혼만족도에 직접적인 영향만 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 남편의 자기노출은 결혼만족도에 직접적으로 영향을 미치기도 하지만 지각된 아내의 자기노출을 통해 간접적으로도 영향을 미치기도 하는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구를 통해 결혼만족도에 영향을 미치는 여러 요인들의 구조적인 관계를 살펴볼 수 있었으며 결혼만족도 향상을 위해서는 자아존중감 뿐만 아니라 유연한성역할 태도와 적절한 수준의 자기노출이 중요한 요소라는 것을 알 수 있었다.

The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of husbands` gender role attitudes, self-esteem, self-disclosure and the husbands` perceived self-disclosure of the spouse on the marital satisfaction. To do so, 328 married men were tested. The results showed that husbands` self-esteem, gender role attitude and self-disclosure affected the level of the husbands` marital satisfaction. Those with higher self-esteem and those with more self-disclosure showed significantly higher marital satisfaction rates. Those with more traditional gender role attitude showed significantly lower marital satisfaction rates. The path analysis showed that the self-esteem level and gender role attitudes had direct effect on the marital satisfaction of the husbands. It also showed that the self-esteem level indirectly affected the marital satisfaction of the husbands through the self disclosure level. Husbands self-disclosure level also had direct and indirect effects on the marital satisfaction through the perceived self-disclosure of the spouse. The current study suggested that more flexible gender role attitude and self-disclosure as well as self-esteem are very important factors affecting the marital satisfaction of the husbands.
