본 연구는 상담을 경험한 아내의 부부갈등 변화과정에 있어서 아내의 심리 내적구조를 분석함으로 써 아내의 남편에 대한 인식과 부부갈등 변화과정에 관한 실체이론을 개발하는 것이 목적이다. 이를 위해 부부갈등으로 상담을 받은 경험이 있는 8명의 참여자가 선정되었고 심층면접을 통해 수집 된 자료는 Strauss와 Corbin의 근거이론 연구방법을 통하여 분석되었다. 선택코딩 결과, ``연약한 자기 와능력 있는 자기간의 상호작용적 자기완성``이 핵심범주로 도출되었다. 이것은 아내 심리내면에 분열되어 있었던 연약한 자기와 능력있는 자기가 남편과의 분리개별화 과정을 통하여 긍정적인 상호 작용을 하는 자기로 통합되어 가는 과정이다. 아내의 부부갈등 변화과정은 시간의 흐름에 따라 기 대, 혼란, 갈등, 절망, 변화, 그리고 성장단계의 6단계로 해석되었으며 투사적 동일시가 부부갈등의 핵심기제임이 밝혀졌다. 또한 부부갈등 변화과정 중 아내들의 심리내적 구조의 변화를 이상적표상 투사단계, 투사적 동일시단계, 자기표상과 대상표상 분리단계, 자기표상과 대상표상 통합단계의 4단 계 모델로 제안하였다.

The purpose of this study is to develope a substantive theory suitable for explaining the changing process of marital conflict and wife`s perception on her husband by investigating the psychic structure of the wife who receives counseling based on the grounded theory method. The eight participants were selected who fulfilled the criteria of the marital conflict index among the clients served in the counselling center. The data were collected through in-depth interviews and analyzed according to the grounded theory method suggested by Strauss & Corbin (2008). The core category drawn by selective coding is found to be the self-accomplishment through the interaction between the weak self and the strong self, which means the process in which wife`s self is being integrated from the splitting of the weak self and the strong self by the separation-individuation out of her husband. The process analysis shows that the changing process of marital conflict involves six different stages, i.e. expectation, confusion, conflict, despair, change, and growth stage as time goes on. Projective identification is also found to be the core cause in these stages of marital conflict. Finally, the four-phase model is proposed for describing the state of wife`s endopsychic structure during the changing process of marital conflict, i.e., the phase of projection of ideal representation, the phase of projective identification, the phase of separation of self representation and object representation, and the phase of integration of self representation and object representation. This finding is useful for understanding the changing process of marital conflict from the viewpoint of object relations.
