본 연구는 다문화가족 외국인 남성의 가족상담 필요성 인식에 미치는 요인들을 파악함으로써, 다문 화가족 외국인 남성과 다문화가족을 위한 가족상담의 지원 방향을 제시하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 한국보건사회연 구원을 주축으로 해서 실시한 『2009년 전국다문화가족실태조사』의 자료를 사 용하여 다문화가족 외국인 남 성 총 4,275명을 대상으로 사회인구학적 변인, 한국어 능력, 가족관계 만족도, 가족상담 경험 유무를 중심으로 가족상담 필요성 인식에 미치는 요인들을 살펴보았다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다: 첫째, 다문화가족 외국인 남성의 가족상담에 대한 인식은 전반적으로 낮은 편이었으나, 상담을 경험한 사람은 상담의 필요성에 대해 중간 이상의 필요도를 느끼고 있었다. 둘째, 다문화가족 외국인 남성의 출신국에 따라 가족상담 필요성 인식에는 차이가 나타났다. 북 미, 유럽, 호주 출신의 남성들은 가족상담의 필요성에 대한 인식이 낮았고, 남 미, 아프리카, 중국, 일 본과 조선족을 제외한 동남아 출신 남성들은 가족상담의 필요성에 대한 인식이 높았다. 셋째, 다문화가족 외국인 남성들은 연령이 낮을수록 상담에 대한 욕구가 높으며, 한국어 말하기 능력이 부족 할수록, 배우자와의 관계에 만족하지 않을수록, 그리고 가족상담을 경험한 사람들일수록 상담의 필요성을 높게 인식하는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과로 다문화가족 외국인 남성의 가족상담에 대한 필요성이 확인되었다.
This study was set out to examine factors which influence foreign men``s in multicultural families perceived need for family counselling to propose directions for family counselling support for them and multicultural families. Using the National Survey for Multicultural Families conducted in 2010 by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, factors which influence their perceived need for family counselling were examined in terms of socio-demographic variables, Korean proficiency, level of satisfaction for family relationship and the experience with family counselling for the sample of 4,275 foreign men in multicultural families. The results of the study are made up of three parts. First, it was found that the foreign men``s perceived need for family counselling was low overall. Also, subjects who have received counselling perceived higher than mid-level need for counselling. Second, differences were observed in their perceived need for family counselling according to the foreign men``s native countries. Foreign men from North America, Europe and Australia reported low perceived need for family counselling while those from South America, Africa, China and the Southeast Asia showed high level of perceived need for family counselling. Third, the younger foreign men in multicultural families were the higher desire for counselling they indicated. It was also found that lower their level of Korean speaking, the less satisfactory their relationship with their spouse and the ones who received family counselling before, the higher their perceived need for counselling. The results confirmed the significant of the foreign men``s perceived need for multicultural families counselling.
