본 연구는 완벽주의와 정서표현 양가성, 정서조절곤란의 관계를 알아보고, 완벽주의가 정서조절곤란에 미치는 영향에서 정서표현 양가성의 매개효과를 검증하였다. 특히 완벽주의를 평가염려 완벽주의와 개인기준 완벽주의로 나누어 두 가지 서로 다른 완벽주의 유형이 정서조절곤란에 미치는 상이한 기제를 밝히는데 초점을 두었다. 구조방정식 분석결과 정서표현 양가성은 평가염려 완벽주의와 정서조절곤란 간의 관계에서는 정적으로, 개인기준 완벽주의와 정서조절곤란 간의 관계에서는 부적으로 매개 역할을 하는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 타인의 비판이나 염려를 지나치게 의식하는 평가염려 완벽주의가 높을수록 자신의 감정을 표현하는 것에 두려움을 겪음으로써 정서조절곤란의 수준이 높아진 다는 것을 의미한다. 또한 개인기준 완벽주의가 높을수록 정서표현 양가성과 정서조절곤란의 수준은 낮아지는데, 이것은 개인기준 완벽주의가 상대적으로 타인의 평가에 대한 두려움이 크지 않아 정서를 표현하는 데 갈등을 겪지 않게 되므로 정서조절곤란의 수준이 낮아진다는 것을 의미한다. 이러한 연구결과를 바탕으로 상담과정에 대한 시사점과 후속연구에 대한 제언을 논의하였다.

This study examined the possibly mediating effect of Ambivalence over Emotional Expressiveness on the relation between Perfectionism and Emotional Dysregulation(a composite of emotional reactivity and emotional Cutoff).Two measures of perfectionism were used. Evaluative Concern perfectionism means maladaptive perfectionism and Personal Standard Perfectionism means adaptive perfectionism. Data from a sample of university students (N =279) were used to test a model. Collected data were analyzed by SPSS 19.0 and AMOS Ver 18.0. The result suggested that significant positive effects were observed between Evaluative Concern perfectionism and Emotional Dysregulation, Whereas significant inverse effects were found for Personal Standard Perfectionism. Structural equations analyses revealed support for a possibly mediaional role of Ambivalence over Emotional Expressiveness. Finally, the implications and limitations of the present study were discussed.
