본 연구는 중학생의 비합리적 신념과 사회적 지지가 분노표현양식에 미치는 직·간접적인 영향을 확인하고자 진행되었다· 이를 위하여 서울특별시, 대구광역시, 구미시에 소재하는 총 7개 중학교의 학생 512명을 대상으로 연구하였으며, 주요 연구결과는 다음과 같다· 첫째, 비합리적 신념 수준이 높아질수록 분노를 표출하거나 억제하는 수준도 높아지는 것으로 나타났다· 또한, 비합리적 신념 중 과잉염려 및 회피 신념, 결정론적 신념, 과대한 자기기대 신념이 높아지고 과잉의존 신념이 낮아질 수록 분노를 표출하는 수준이 높아지고, 결정론적 신념과 과잉염려 및 회피신념이 높아질수록 분노를 억제하는 수준이 높아지는 것으로 나타났다· 둘째, 중학생이 사회적 지지, 특히 가족의 정서적 지지를 높게 지각할수록 분노를 표출하거나 억제하는 수준은 낮아지고 분노를 조절하여 표현하는 수준은 높아지는 것으로 나타났다· 셋째, 비합리적 신념이 높아질수록 분노를 억제하는 수준이 높아 지는 경우에 사회적 지지가 이러한 영향을 완충시켜주는 것으로 나타났다· 이러한 결과를 바탕으로, 중학생이 분노를 보다 조절된 형태로 표현할 수 있도록 돕는 상담적 개입 방안에 대한 시사점을 논 하고 이에 대한 향후 연구방향 및 제한점을 기술하였다.

This study examined the direct/indirect effects of middle school students` irrational beliefs and social support on their anger expression styles· The subjects were 512 students from 7 middle schools located in Seoul, Daegu and Gumi· The results of this study were as follows· First, when the level of expressing or controlling anger was high, the level of irrational beliefs was high· And high excessive concern, avoidance belief, deterministic belief and excessive self-expectation belief were related with expressing anger· When excessive dependence belief got lower, the level of expressing anger was increased· And when deterministic belief, excessive concern and avoidance belief were increased, the level of controlling anger got increased· Second, when middle school students perceived social support highly, especially their families` emotional support, the level of expressing or controlling anger got lower and the expression level after controlling anger was increased· Third, irrational beliefs, degree of controlling anger, and social support were related to the buffering effect of social support.
