본 연구는 Elliott 등(2004)이 개발한 대인존재감 척도(Mattering Scale)을 한국어로 번안한 후, 한국 대 학생들에게 실시한 자료를 분석하여 한국판 대인존재감 척도(Korean Version of Mattering Scale)을 제안하였다· 탐색적 요인분석과 확인적 요인분석을 통해 한국판 대인존재감 척도는 ``알아봄``, ``상호의 지``, 그리고 ``관심``으로 구성되는 3요인의 구조를 가지는 것으로 확인되었다· 신뢰도 및 타당도 분석 결과, 한국판 대인존재감 척도의 총점 및 하위요인의 내적 합치도가 적절하였다· 또한 한국판 대인 존재감 척도는 자아존중감, 사회적 지지와는 유의한 정적상관을 보인 반면, 소외감, 애착불안, 애착 회피와는 유의한 부적상관을 보이는 것으로 확인되었다· 한국판 대인존재감 척도는 사회적 바람직 성과는 유의한 상관을 보이지 않았다· 추가분석 결과, 대인존재감의 경우 여자가 남자보다 유의하게 높았던 반면, 자아존중감은 남자가 더 높은 것으로 나타났다· 본 연구의 결과에 기초하여 대인존재 감이라는 사회심리학적 개념의 문화적 특성을 논의하였으며 연구의 제한점 및 향후 연구를 위한 제안점을 제시하였다.

This study examined the factor structure and validity of the Mattering Scale which was developed by Elliott et al· (2004)· For this purpose, 299 university students were subjects of exploratory factor analysis and 339 university students were subjects of confirmatory factor analysis and correlation analysis among related scales, such as self-esteem, perceived social support, alienation, and social desirability· As the results, Korean version of the Mattering Scale was proved to have three factor, ``awareness`, ``mutual reliance``, and ``interest``· The mattering was positively related to self-esteem, perceived social support and negatively related to alienation· There was gender difference of mattering and self-esteem· Whereas males scored higher than females for self-esteem, females scored higher than males for mattering· The results also suggested that the Korean version of the mattering scale is reliable· The limitations and suggestions for further research were discussed.
