본 연구의 목적은 대학생의 자기성찰, 자아방어 기제, 그리고 자기통제 간의 관계를 알아보고 자기 성찰과 자기통제 간의 관계에서 자아방어 기제가 매개하는지를 탐색하는 것이었다· 이를 위해 충청 북도 도청소재지에 소재한 4개 대학교의 대학생 236명을 대상으로 자기성찰, 자아방어 기제, 자기통제를 측정하기 위해 질문지를 실시하였다· 그 결과 첫째, 대학생의 자기성찰, 자아방어 기제, 자기통제 간에는 유의한 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다· 둘째, 대학생의 자아방어 기제는 자기성찰과 자기통제 간의 관계에서 부분 매개 효과를 갖는 것으로 나타났다· 이러한 결과는 자기성찰이 대학 생의 자기통제에 직접 영향을 주기도 하지만, 자아방어 기제 중 적응적 방어유형과 미성숙 방어유형을 거쳐 자기통제에 영향을 준다는 것을 보여준다.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships among self-reflection, ego defense mechanisms, and self-control of college students and to examine the mediating effects of ego defense mechanisms in the relationships between self-reflection and self-control of college students· The participants were 236 college students in grades 1 through 4 in Chungcheongbuk-Do· A questionnaire to measure self-reflection, ego defense mechanism, and self-control was administered to them· The major results showed that (a) there were significant relationships among self-reflection, ego defense mechanisms, and self-control; and (b) ego defense mechanisms were partially mediated in the relationships between self-reflection and self-control of college students· These results indicate that although self-reflection influenced self-control directly, it influenced self-control through adaptive defense and immature defense among ego defense mechanisms.
