현재 우리 사회는 이미 다문화사회이며, 많은 다문화가정 학생들이 학교에 다니고 있지만 학교 현장의 교사들은 이에 대한 준비가 미흡한 상황이다. 따라서 이 연구는 대학원 다문화교육전공 교육과정을 분석하여 다문화 교육을 위한 교사교육의 현황을 파악하고, 다문화교사 교육과정의 개발 및 개편에의 시사점을 얻어 국어과에서의 접근 방식과 역할에 대해 모색하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 10개 대학 대학원의 다문화교육전공 및 학과의 교육과정을 분석하였고 그 결과 강의 수 및 강의 명의 다양성 문제, 다문화교육영역의 요소별 강의 비중의 문제, 다문화교육전공 및 학과 교육과정에 해당하는 강의의 적절성 문제, 대분류상 ‘언어교육’에 해당하는 강의의 부족 문제를 확인 하였다. 특히 ‘언어교육’에 대한 강의가 부족하다는 사실과 관련하여 다문화 교육에 대한 국어교육계의 관심과 고민이 요구된다.

This study is to figure out the current state of teacher education for the multi-cultural education by analysing the major of multi-cultural education at the Graduate Course, draw implications for the development and the reorganization of teacher education curriculum at the multicultural education and seek for the role and the method of approach of Korean education. This article investigates the curriculum of the multi-cultural education at 9 graduate schools. These analyses draw issues on the number and the name of lecture, and the balance of proportion among fields in educational contents. There is also some issue whether the lectures are appropriate on the multi-cultural education curriculum. Furthermore, it is found that the lectures corresponding to language education are insufficient. With regard to shortage of the lectures on language education, there must be more consideration and studies of Korean education.
