본 연구는 여성의 대상관계수준, 내면화된 수치심 및 자기침묵이 우울에 어떤 영향을 미치는지를 구조방정식 모형을 통해 검증하고자 하였다. 연구대상은 인천광역시와 수도권 일대에 거주하는 만 20세 이상의 여성 총 353명이었다. 자료처리는 대상관계수준, 수치심, 자기침묵, 우울간의 상관분석을 하고, 이들 변인들의 관계의 구조를 파악하기 위해 AMOS 5.0을 이용한 구조방정식 모형검증을 실시하였다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 낮은 대상관계수준과 우울은 의미 있는 정적 관계를 나타내었고 수치심 및 자기침묵 변인도 우울과 정적 상관을 나타내었다. 즉 대상관계 수준이 낮을 수록, 수치심이 클수록, 자기침묵 경향이 클수록, 우울경향이 더 커지는 것으로 보인다. 둘째, 낮은 대상관계수준과 수치심 및 자기침묵도 정적 상관을 보였다. 대상관계수준이 낮을수록 수치심을 더 느끼고, 자기침묵 경향도 커지는 것으로 추론할 수 있다. 셋째, 대상관계수준이 수치심에 영향을 주 고 수치심이 자기침묵에 영향을 주어 다시 자기침묵이 우울에 차례로 영향을 미치는 모형의 적합도 가 더 높게 나왔다. 이상의 결과를 바탕으로, 대상관계 수준과 우울의 관계에서 매개변인인 수치심 과 자기침묵적 의사소통 패턴을 다룸으로서, 우울 증상에 대한 치료적 개입 방향을 다양화하고, 우 울에 대한 예방적 효과를 도모할 수 있다는 점 등을 논의하였다.

This study examined the effect of object relationships and shame on depression, which greatly influences women`s psychological wellbeing and interpersonal relations. The study conducted a survey with a total of 353 women in Incheon Metropolitan city and the National Capital region. From the collected data, which were processed with a statistical program (SPSS 12.0), the study calculated a reliability coefficient Cronbach`s α in order to verify the reliability level of each scale, and conducted a correlation analysis in order to examine the correlation among women`s object relationships, internalized sense of shame, self-silencing and depression. Finally, and the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) approach was used. The results are as follows: First, the result of the correlation analysis among women`s lower object relation level and depression showed positive correlation, and internalized shame, self-silencing and depression showed that there were positive relations among them. Second, the result of the correlation analysis among women`s lower object relation level and shame showed that there was negative correlation, Third, the model that object relation influenced shame and then influenced self-silencing and finally influenced the depression of women was more appropriate than the partly mediating model. These results suggest that internalized shame and self-silencing mediate the relation between object relation level and depression. Therefore, in order to help women to recover from their depression, counselors must consider their internalized shame and self-silencing strategy as well as their object relation. The limitations of current research were discussed.
