본 연구는 ADHD의 정서적 문제인 우울, 불안과 생리적 증상인 수면문제 사이의 관련성을 알아보고자 하였다. 구체적으로, 대학생 집단을 대상으로 ADHD의 하위 증상인 부주의, 과잉행동이 수면문제를 야기하는 데 있어 우울과 불안이 어떠한 매개효과를 보이는지를 검토하였다. 그리고 이들변인이 수면의 질을 어느 정도 설명하는지 위계적 중회귀분석을 통해 알아보았고 변인들간의 경로 모형을 구축하여 적합도를 검증하였다. 연구 결과, 1) ADHD 성향집단은 비성향집단 보다 우울 및 불안 수준이 높았으며 수면의 질은 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 2) 정서적 문제인 우울, 불안은 수면의 질을 설명하는 것으로 나타났고 특히 불안은 수면의 질을 더 잘 설명하는 것으로 나타났다. 3)ADHD의 하위증상 중 부주의는 우울의 매개효과를 통해 수면문제에 주로 영향을 주는 반면, 과잉행동은 불안의 매개작용을 거치거나 혹은 직접적으로 수면문제에 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구결과는 ADHD의 수면문제를 치료하는데 있어서 주된 하위증상에 따라 주안점을 두는 정서적 치료기제가 차별화될 필요가 있음을 시사한다.`

This study explored relationships among depression, anxiety, and sleep problems in Adults with ADHD tendency. Specifically, using data from university students, the mediating effects of depression and anxiety was examined in causing sleep problems with or without ADHD tendency. In addition, using hierarchical multiple regression analyses, relative contributions of these variables on sleep problems was estimated, and the goodness of fit of the proposed model was tested using path analyses. As results, 1) ADHD tendency group showed higher depression. higher anxiety level, and lower sleep quality than the control group, 2) emotional problems such as depression and anxiety significantly explained the variance of sleep quality, while the anxiety level contributed more variance on sleep quality than the depression level. 3) While the inattention sub-symptom affects sleep problems via the mediating effects of depression, the hyperactivity sub-symptom affects sleep problems directly or via the mediating effects of anxiety. Taken together, it is suggested that differential treatments of ADHD`s sleep problem are needed, depending on ADHD sub-symptoms.
