본고에서는 상담현장에서 주목받지 못했던 타로에 대한 심리학적 배경을 고찰하였다. 선행연구들을 종합해보면 타로는 심리학적으로 무의식, 융의 분석심리학, 마슬로우의 자아실현이론의 관점에서 설명되고 있지만, 이에 대한 후속연구는 부족한 실정이라는 것을 알 수 있다. 새로운 도구에 대한 적용의 가능성을 시도하기 위하여 학술적 접근은 더욱 요구되기에 심리학적 관점에서 타로를 이해하고자하는 구체적인 노력이 필요하다. 또한 이러한 학술적 연구를 바탕으로 타로를 사용할 때 유의할 점으로 타로를 리딩하는 방법이다. 단순히 길거리에서 점을 보는 도구라는 인식을 넘어 상담에적용할 수 있는 도구가 되기 위하여 타로리딩을 어떻게 해야 하며, 타로상담자의 역할은 어떠한지에 대하여 탐색하였다.

The study considers meanings of Tarot in all aspects, which have not been focused in the counseling program. Tarot is explicated psychologically through the theories of unconsciousness, C.G Jung`s analytic psychology, and A. Maslow`s self-realization if you integrate preceding studies. However, it is found that the following studies on this subject is insufficient. According to the psychological viewpoint, the specific efforts on understanding Tarot is required to attempt the possibilities of application for a new vehicle because academic approaches is being more demanded. Moreover, how to read Tarot should be considered when it is used, based on the academic investigation. Therefore, the study is examined on the ways of reading Tarot and roles of Tarot counselor in order to become from the simple means to tell person`s fortune to the means to apply for counseling.
