우리나라 청소년들의 인터넷 활용률이 높아지고 사이버상담에 대한 수요가 증가하고 있다. 사이버상담이 실제로 어떻게 이루어지고 있으며 사이버상담의 경험은 어떠한지를 파악하기 위한 경험적연구가 필요하다. 이에 본 연구에서는 사이버상담 중에서 채팅상담을 실제로 경험한 청소년과 사이버상담을 제공하고 있는 상담자들을 대상으로 채팅상담 경험에 대한 포커스그룹 인터뷰를 진행하고 질적 분석을 실시하였다. 그 결과 청소년상담에서 채팅상담의 가능성, 실제 채팅상담에서의 상호작용 문제, 효과적인 채팅상담을 위한 대안들을 추출할 수 있었다. 본 연구에서 밝혀진 채팅상담에서 상담자와 청소년내담자 경험에 대한 이해를 근거로 좀 더 효과적인 사이버상담 프로그램을 개발하고 상담자 훈련의 기초자료로 활용할 수 있을 것이다.

The purpose of this study is to identify the significance of cyber counseling and especially adolescents` experiences of chat counseling. For this purpose, three focus groups had been interviewed: adolescent group, two counselor groups(1 specialist group and 1 counselor group). The results showed that the potentialities of chat counseling for adolescents, the interaction problems of chat counseling and the alternatives for effective chat counseling. This study will hopefully offer a new perspective to the growing concerns of cyber counseling. Further this result will become the fundamental data of effective cyber counseling program development, the training of cyber counselor and so on.
