본 연구는 군인을 대상으로 상사의 공감수준이 부하의 복무적응에 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 하였다. 전군에서 표집한 상사 86명과 부하 475명, 총 561명을 표집하여 4개 측정도구 101개 문항으로 측정하였다. 상사는 인지·정서 공감, 언어표현 공감, 부하는 복무적응, 부하가 지각한 상사의 공감을 측정하였다. 자료의 분석은 일원분산분석과 회귀분석을 활용하였다. 연구결과를 보면 상사의 공감수준은 부하의 복무적응에 영향을 미친다. 그러나 상사 자신이 평가한 공감은 부하의 복무적응에 영향을 미치지 않는 반면, 부하들이 지각한 상사의 공감은 복무적응에 많은 영향을 미친다. 또한 상사 자신이 평가한 주관적인 공감과 부하가 지각한 공감은 많은 인식의 차이가 있다. 그리고 상사의 공감수준이 병영의 전투력 발휘에 핵심변인이라는 점을 논의하였다.

The purpose of this study is to identify how much does the superior`s level of empathy affect the adaptation of subordinate`s military service. For the study 86 superiors and 475 subordinates were sampled and administered 4 scales with 101 questions which are superior`s cognitive, emotive and linguistic empathy and subordinate`s adaptiveness in Barrack and individual perception on superior`s empathy. The study complied the materials with technical statistics, one-way ANOVA, Regression Analysis. Following are the results of the study; the superior`s level of empathy affects to subordinate`s adaptation on military service. The superior`s self cognitive empathy does not affect subordinate`s adaptation on military service, but subordinate`s perception on superior`s cognitive empathy affects much on their adaptation to the barrack environment. There are substantial cognitive gaps between superior`s subjective empathy and subordinate`s perception on superior`s empathy. Particularly, the level of company commander`s empathy significantly affects subordinate`s adaptation to the barrack environment. Discussion is followed on the point that superior`s level of empathy is the core variable for the exhibition of combat power.
