The purpose of this study was to examine whether the effect of gratitude on subjective well-being mediate Basic Psychological Needs Satisfaction in interpersonal relationships. We conducted validation of Gratitude Adjective Checklist(GAC) and Basic Psychological Needs Satisfaction Scale in interpersonal relationships(BPNS). As a result of investigating 225 university students, we confirmed Gratitude Adjective Checklist has proper concurrent validity and incremental validity. With a confirmatory factor analysis, we founded Basic Psychological Needs Satisfaction Scale in interpersonal relationships was proper at structure of 3 factors, and appropriate concurrent validation was confirmed. After validation of scale, we demonstrated the mediating effect of the Basic Psychological Needs Satisfaction in interpersonal relationships between gratitude and subjective well-being through the structural equation modeling. 202 university students were participated in this study. The result indicated that effect of Basic Psychological Needs Satisfaction in interpersonal relationships is mediating between gratitude and subjective well-being. After comparison between alternative model which effect of gratitude on subjective well-being mediating completely and partial mediation model, we concluded the partial mediation model was more proper. Finally, implications and limitations of this study and suggestion for future study were addressed.
