본 연구는 희망증진 집단상담 프로그램이 중학생의 학습동기와 성취목표지향성에 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 하였다. 고창지역의 6개 중학교에서 선발된 1, 2학년 60명을 실험집단과 통제집단에 각각 30명씩 무선적으로 배정하였고 실험집단을 대상으로 2일에 걸쳐 1일 4회기씩 총 8회기의 희망증진 집단상담 프로그램을 실시하였다. 연구결과 희망증진 집단상담 프로그램을 경험한 실험집단의 피험자들은 통제집단보다 희망 척도의 점수가 유의미하게 증가하였으며 5주 후까지 지속되었다. 둘째, 실험집단의 피험자들은 통제집단 보다 학습동기 척도 점수에서 유의미한 증가를 보였으며 5주 후추수 결과에서도 유지되었다. 셋째, 실험집단의 피험자들은 통제집단 보다 숙달접근목표지향성 점수에서 유의미한 상승을 보였으나, 수행접근목표지향성 점수에서는 유의미한 차이를 보이지 않았다. 마지막으로 연구의 제한점과 추후연구에 대한 시사점을 논의하였다.

The purpose of this study is to test the effect of the Hope Enhancement Group Counseling Program on middle school students` learning motivation, achievement goal orientation. The subjects in this study were 60 middle school students in C Province. The 30 participants were assigned to the experiment group and 30 were assigned to the control group randomly. We assessed the standard of hope, learning motivation, achievement goal orientation for a pre and post test and follow up test. Group Counseling Program to Improve Hope designed by the researchers was carried out on the experiment group for four session out of 8 everyday for two days. As a result, the participant of the experiment group showed the significant increase in Hope and the effects lasted for after five weeks. Second, the participant of the experiment group showed the significant increase in learning motivation and the effects lasted for after five weeks. Third, the participant of the experiment group showed the significant increase in mastery-approach goal orientation and the effects lasted for after five weeks. Fourth, the participant of the experiment group did not show significant increase in achievement goal orientation. The implications of this study and limitations were discussed.
