다문화 가정이 우리 사회에서 어떠한 양상으로 적응하고 있고 그 역할이 어떠한 가에 관한 주제는 최근 심리학을 비롯한 국내 학자들의 많은 관심을 끌고 있는 주제이다. 본 연구는 다문화 가정이 지니고 있는 적응 문제 중 유아들의 언어발달 중요성에 대해 초점을 맞추어 다문화 가정 유아의 언어발달을 위한 프로그램 효과를 알아보았다. 다문화 가정 유아 11명을 대상으로 사전 사후 검사를 실시하였고 실험집단에게 다문화 교육사 3인이 각 가정에 직접 방문하여 유아의 어머니와 유아를 대상으로 언어발달 프로그램을 17회기 실시하였다. 실험집단 유아들의 인지기능과 언어발달의 변화를 알아보았고, 유아 어머니들의 양육태도 변화를 알아보았다. 프로그램 실시 후 실험집단 유아는 통제집단에 비하여 인지기능의 발달과 수용언어에서 유의미한 효과를 보였으나 표현 언어에서는 유의미한 변화를 보이지 않았다. 실험집단 유아 어머니의 양육태도는 통제집단에 비하여 유의미한 변화를 보였다. 마지막으로 아동목소리 크기의 변화와 어휘수의 변화를 분석한 질적연구 결과 목소리크기가 커진 것과 어휘수의 증가를 확인하였다.

The purpose of this study is to find the effects of the language development program on the multi-cultural infant`s language and cognitive development, and on their mother`s nuturing attitudes. Participants were 11 multi-cultural kindergarten children and their mothers. A 15 session language development program was conducted for two months. After then, the pre-post test was used to analyze the effect of the program. According to the results of this study, the 17 session language development program has a significant effect on the cognitive development of multi-cultural infants. There are also significant effects on the receptive language of multi-cultural infants and on the parent`s rearing attitude of their multi-cultural mothers. A qualitative methodology was adopted to analyze the change of voice volume and the number of vocabulary. Implications and limitations of the study are discussed.
