본 연구는 목적은 성역할 갈등 이론(O``Neil, 2008)과 자기결정성 이론(Ryan & Deci, 2000)에 기초하여 남자 고등학생의 성역할갈등, 기본욕구충족, 우울의 관계에 대한 구조적 모형을 검증하고, 기본욕구 충족이 남자고등학생의 성역할갈등과 우울간의 관계를 매개하는지 알아보고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 서울, 경기도 소재의 고등학교에 재학중인 남자 청소년 383명을 대상으로 성역할갈등과 우울과의 관계에서 기본욕구충족의 매개효과를 구조방정식 모형분석을 사용하여 검증하였다. 구조모형 검증결과 남자고등학생의 성역할갈등이 심할수록 욕구충족이 낮았고, 또한 우울이 높게 나타났으며, 기본욕구 충족은 성역할갈등과 우울사이의 관계를 부분매개 하는 것으로 나타났다. 이 연구의 결과가 남자 청소년의 상담에서 갖는 의미, 이 연구의 제한점과 추후 연구에 대한 제언이 논의 되었다.

This study examined the effect of psychological basic need as a mediator in the relationship between male gender role conflict and depression in 383 Seoul and Gyeonggi area high school students male with SEM. This study compared two models reflecting full mediation or partial mediation effects of psychological basic need on the relationship between gender role conflict and depression. A chi-square difference test comparing the models showed a statistically nonsignificant difference between the partially and partial mediated models. The mediation effect of psychological basic on the relationship between male gender role conflict and depression was significant when the self-determination method was applied. Suggestions for future for future research, the limitation of this study, and the implications for counselors were also discussed.
