이 연구에서는 청소년동반자들이 경험하는 윤리적 갈등상황과 갈등에 대한 대처방법을 탐색하였다. 연구의 대상은 11곳의 시·도청소년상담실에서 근무하는 청소년동반자 69명이었다. 청소년동반자들에게 윤리적 갈등상황과 대처방법을 묻는 개방형의 질문지를 실시하고, 그 결과를 내용분석하였다. 연구의 결과 청소년동반자들이 경험하는 윤리적 갈등은 크게 비밀보장, 상담관계, 상담동의, 상담자전문성, 연계기관과의 관계 등 5개 범주의 24개 하위영역으로 구분되었다. 윤리적 갈등을 가장 많이 경험한 범주는 비밀보장이었고, 하위영역에서는 의뢰기관의 상담정보 공유 요청, 청소년의 상담동의 거부, 연계기관의 비협조적 태도 순으로 갈등을 많이 경험하는 것으로 나타났다. 청소년동반자들은 갈등상황에 따라 다양한 대처행동을 사용하고 있었는데, 수퍼비전, 상담과정과 상담관계에 대한 구조화, 내담자와 관련자에 대한 설득, 연계기관과의 협조 등이 빈번하게 나타났다. 이 연구의 의의와 제한점에 대한 논의가 이루어졌다.

Ethical dilemmas encountered by youth companions(YC) and their coping strategies were investigated in this study. Sixty-nine YCs participated in this study who were working for 11 youth counseling centers in various regions in Korea. A questionnaire was developed and administered which examines ethical dilemmas and coping behaviors. Dilemmas encountered by YCs were categorized into 5 categories and 24 subcategories. Five categories were confidentiality, multiple relationships and boundary issues, informed consent, professional competence to practice, and dilemmas related to referral sources in community. YCs experienced ethical dilemmas in confidentiality issues the most frequently, especially when extensive counseling information was requested by various referral sources. YCs also reported frequent ethical dilemmas related to informed consent as well as a lack of collaboration with referral sources. YCs frequently adopted supervision and consultation, structuring counseling process and counseling relationship, and developing working relationships with referral sources in community as their coping strategies. Implications and limitations of the current study were described.
