본고의 목적은 상담 및 심리치료에서 적용되는 다양한 치료적 매체가 어떠한 역할을 하는지를 살펴 보는 것이다. 이를 위해 독일의 프릿츠 펄스 연구소에서 실시하는 게슈탈트치료 및 통합치료 전문 가과정의 자기경험 집단수련 프로그램의 축어록을 1차 자료로 삼았다. 이 축어록에서 치료적 매체를 중심으로 한 작업 중 10개의 회기를 선정하였다. 그 이후 선정된 10개의 회기 진행 동안 수련 감독자와 개인 작업을 한 5명의 연구 참여자가 선정되었다. 이들 연구 참여자들에게 1차 자료로 삼았던 10개의 축어록을 참고하여, 초기 워밍업 단계와 창작 활동 단계에서 치료적 매체의 역할과 관련된 자신의 경험을 회상하게 하였다. 이후 이들에게 치료적 매체의 역할에 대해 자유롭게 기술하도록 하였다. 이 기술 자료와 이후 실시된 면접 자료를 합의적 질적 연구방법으로 분석하였다. 먼저 주요 개념을 추출하고, 이를 주제별로 묶어 나갔다. 연구결과 범주화한 치료적 매체의 역할은 다음 과 같다. 초기 단계에서 치료적 매체의 역할은 주로 감각을 자극하고 알아차림(Awareness)을 촉진하는 것이었으며, 창작 활동 단계에서는 내면 접촉을 촉진하고 표현을 심화하는 것이었다. 각 범주의 하위 주제를 각각 제시하였다.

The purpose of this study is to explore the roles of various art-therapeutic media applied to counseling and Psychotherapy. To achieve this objective, the Protocol of self-experiencing group training program in the expert`s course for Gestalt therapy and Integrative therapy in Fritz Perls Institute in Germany was used as a first data. Among the works on therapeutic media, 10 sessions were selected. The training supervisor and five participants were asked to recall their experiences related to the roles of therapeutic media during warm-up and creative activity stages. Then, they freely wrote on the roles of therapeutic media. These written data were analyzed through consensual qualitative research. Fundamental ideas were drawn from the written data and were classified. In conclusion, the classified roles of therapeutic media are as follows: the roles of therapeutic media at warm-up stage were to mainly stimulate participants` senses and facilitate their awareness, and also to promote internal contacts and improve the expression at creative activity stage.
