This study examined the effect of reality therapy based- play therapy in reducing aggression and increasing self-efficacy in juvenile delinquents. For this research, 20 juvenile delinquents who were sentenced to Punishment No. 7 and held in custody in a facility participated in group counseling program. They were divided by each experimental group and control group. The experimental group was put through therapy, which involved several types of games and play once a week for ten weeks. To verify the effect of the intervention program, the aggression and self-efficacy of the experimental and control groups were measured before and after the program. The aggression index of the experimental group fell significantly compared to that of the control group, confirming that the counseling program was effective. Also, the self-efficacy index of the experimental group increased significantly compared to that of the control group, confirming that the counseling program was effective in this respect as well. The findings of this study can be applied to correctional facilities, where there is an increasing need for effective programs for juvenile delinquents, and they are promising with regard to providing guidance for juvenile delinquents. The study indicates that group counseling program that involves games and play and is based on the theoretical concept of reality therapy is an effective means of intervention: they reduce the rate of recidivism and help juvenile delinquents become responsible members of society.
