본 연구의 목적은 성장기 시절의 부모화 경험이 대학생의 병리적 의존에 미치는 영향을 부모화의 하위 요인에 따라 알아보고, 부모화 경험이 병리적 의존에 영향을 미치는 과정에서 수치심 경향성의 매개 효과를 검증하는 것이었다. 이를 위하여 서울 소재 대학생 496명을 대상으로 부모화 척도(Filial Responsibility Scale- Adult: FRS-A) , 수치심 경향성 척도(Personal Feeling Questionnaire-2: PFQ-2), 병리적 의존 척도(한국형 공동의존 척도)를 사용하여 설문조사를 하였다. 부모화의 하위 요인인 물리적 부모화와 정서적 부모화가 병리적 의존에 미치는 영향을 표준 중다 회귀 방법으로 분석한 결과, 물리적 부모화와 정서적 부모화는 병리적 의존에 유의미한 영향을 가지지만 물리적 부모화보다 정서적 부모화가 병리적 의존에 더 큰 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 부모화의 하위 요인인 물리적 부모화와 정서적 부모화가 수치심 경향성에 미치는 영향을 표준 중다 회귀 방법으로 분석한 결과, 물리적 부모화는 수치심 경향성에 유의미한 영향을 주지 않았고, 정서적 부모화는 수치심 경향성에 유의미한 영향력을 가지는 것으로 나타났다. 정서적 부모화가 병리적 의존에 영향을 주는 과정에서 수치심 경향성의 매개효과가 있는지 위계적 중다 회귀 방법으로 분석한 결과, 수치심 경향성은 정서적 부모화가 병리적 의존에 대해 갖는 효과를 부분적으로 매개하는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구결과가 병리적 의존에 대한 상담 및 치료적 개입에 시사하는 점과 본 연구의 제한점과 후속 연구를 위한 제언에 대해 논의하였다.

The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of parentification in childhood on codependency in undergraduates and the role of shame-proneness in the relationship between parentification and codependency. Four hundred ninety-six Korean undergraduates in Seoul completed the Filial Responsibility Scale-Adult, Personal Feeling Questionnaire-2, and Korean Version of A Codependency Test. A standard multiple regression showed that the effect of emotional parentification on codependecy is greater than that of instrumental parentification on codependency. In addition, instrumental parentification had a negative effect on codependency. While instrumental parentification had no significant effect on shame-proneness, emotional parentification had a significant effect on shame-proneness. A hierarchical strategy in multiple regression was conducted to examine the role of shame-proneness. The result indicated that shame-proneness partially mediates the effect of emotional parentification on codependency. Based on the findings, the implications of therapeutic interventions for codependency were discussed. In addition, the limitations of the current study and the suggestions for further research directions were offered.
