본 연구는 상담자의 역할에 대한 내담자의 선호로서의 기대와 예상으로서의 기대를 구별하여, 집단상담에서 이 두 가지 개념의 차이를 고찰하고자 한다. 또한 집단상담자의 역할에 대한 내담자의 기대불일치와 집단상담 초기 성과와의 관계를 설명하는 모델들을 검증하고자 한다. 본 연구를 수행하기 위해서, 연구자는 먼저, 자발적으로 대학 상담소를 찾은 내담자들에게 집단상담 참가 전에 상담 기대 질문지(EAC)를 실시하였다. 그리고 연구자는 첫 회기 후, 내담자들에게 상담시간 평가 질문지(SEQ), 상담자 평가 질문지(CRF), 상담자의 역할 지각 질문지를 실시하였다. 그런 다음, 4개 집단의 27명의 집단상담 내담자로부터 얻은 자료를 분석하였다. 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 집단상담자에 대한 집단원의 상담 전 선호와 예상은 6개의 상담자 역할 척도에서 유의미한 차이를 보였다. 따라서 내담자들은 집단상담자의 역할에 대해 현실적으로 예상하는 것과 이상적으로 선호하는 것을 명백히 구분하는 것으로 보인다. 둘째, 상담자의 역할에 대한 내담자의 기대불일치 모델 중, 양방향적 모델이 집단상담에서 지지되었다.

This study was to distinguish between client`s expectation as preference and expectation as anticipation about counselor`s role and examine difference of these two concepts in group counseling. And this study was concerned with verifying explanatory models of the relationship between client`s expectation discrepancy about group counselor`s role and initial group counseling outcome. To perform this study, first, clients who voluntarily came to university counseling center were asked to fill out Expectations About Counseling Questionnaire(EAC) before session 1 of group counseling. And after session 1, clients fill out Session Evaluation Questionnaire(SEQ), Counselor Rating Form Questionnaire(CRF), counselor`s role perception questionnaire. Questionnaire materials from 27 clients of 4 groups were analysed. The results are as follows. First, client`s initial preferences and anticipations about group counseling showed significant differences for six counselor`s role subscales. So, clients seem to clearly distinguish what they prefer ideally from what they anticipate realistically about group counselor`s role. Second, among client`s expectation discrepancy models about counselor`s role, bidirectional model was supported in group counseling.
