본 연구에서는 여성의 진로행동을 설명해주는 주요 변인인 지각된 진로장벽에 주목하여, 우리나라 일반계 여고생들이 진학 및 진로 설계와 목표 실현에서 저해요인으로 지각하는 진학 장벽의 내용과 특성을 파악하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 관련 문헌과 기존 측정도구의 검토 및 여고생을 대상으로 실시한 설문을 통해 65개 문항의 예비검사를 구성하였고, 이를 340명의 고 3 여고생들에게 실시하여, 응답결과에 대해 문항분석과 요인분석을 실시하였다. 문항분석 결과 일반계 고 3 여학생들은 상당히 다양한 진로장벽이 최소한 어느 정도 자신의 진로목표실현을 방해할 것으로 지각하고 있었다. 또한 입시여건과 성적 및 공부에 대한 고민과 부담이 이들에게 심각한 장벽으로 지각되고 있어 우리나라의 입시현실을 잘 반영하고 있다. 이에 비해 성과 계층에 따른 차별이나 불이익에 관한 내용이나 외적 지원의 부족 등에 대해서는 상대적으로 낮게 지각하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 요인분석을 통해 7개 요인이 확인되었는데, 자기이해 및 진학정보의 부족, 학업태도 및 성적문제, 미래에 대한 두려움과 심리적 불안, 학업풍토 및 제도의 문제, 자신감 부족과 부정적인 자아개념, 주변의 기대와 여건의 갈등, 외적 지원 부족이었다. 연구의 의의와 제한점 및 추후 연구를 위한 제안들을 제시하였다.
This study attempted to investigate the nature and characteristics of barriers to education and career perceived among girls attending preparatory high schools in Korea. A preliminary inventory with 65 items was developed on the basis of a review of related literature, existing instruments of educational and career barriers. and a survey with high school girls. The preliminary inventory was administered to 349 high school senior girl students and an item analysis and factor analysis were conducted. The item analysis showed that high school senior girls perceived a great number of various barriers to be, at the least, somewhat likely to obstruct their educational and career goal achievement. Concerns and problems regarding college entrance examination, low grade, and study were among the items with the highest mean scores, which reflects the reality of college entrance system and endeavors in Korea. In contrast, the degree of perceptions of potential discrimination due to sex and class, or the lack of external support were lower. The factor analysis of the test items resulted in 7 factors including lack of self-understanding and career information, study skills and grade issues, fear of the future and psychological anxiety, issues of educational climate and system, lack of self-confidence and negative self-concept, conflict with others` expectations and conditions, and lack of external supports. And finally, the significance of the study, as well as its limitations and suggestions for further studies, was discussed.
