본 연구는 발달장애아동 어머니의 심리적 안녕감을 적절히 설명하는 모형을 발견하기 위해 수행되었다. 본 연구에서는 정신지체 혹은 자폐를 가지고 있는 발달장애아동 어머니 411명을 대상으로 발달장애아동 어머니의 양육 스트레스와 심리적 안녕감 간의 관계를 규명하기 위해 이들 관계를 적극적 대처방식과 사회적 지지가 부분적으로 매개하는 구조모형을 연구모형으로 제시하였다. 모형 검증 결과, 낮은 양육 스트레스는 직접적으로 그리고 사회적 지지와 적극적 대처방식을 통해서 발달장애아동 어머니의 심리적 안녕감을 높이는 것으로 나타났다. 적극적 대처방식은 직접적으로 그리고 사회적 지지를 통해서 발달장애아동 어머니의 심리적 안녕감을 높이는 것으로 나타났다. 즉, 발달장애아동 어머니의 심리적 안녕감을 설명하는데 있어서 적극적 대처방식과 사회적 지지는 양육 스트레스가 심리적 안녕감에 미치는 영향을 매개하였으며, 또한 사회적 지지는 적극적 대처방식이 심리적 안녕감에 미치는 영향을 매개하였다. 끝으로 본 연구의 의의, 제한점 및 추후 연구방향이 제시되었다.

This study tested a model of psychological well-being of the mothers of the child with the disability(aged 1-18). The sample of this study included 411 mothers of the child with the disability. It tested the effect of the parenting stress, active coping strategies and social support on the psychological well-being. A structural model of a partially mediating role of social support and active coping strategies was hypothesized and tested regarding the relationship among antecedents variables (the parenting stress, active coping strategies, and social support) and psychological well-being. Results from the structural equation model analysis showed that the hypothesized model fitted to the data. The analysis showed that the social support and active coping strategies mediated the effects of the parenting stress to psychological well-being. That is, The parenting stress influenced directly the psychological well-being, and indirectly via the social support and active coping. And the active coping strategies influenced directly the psychological well-being, also via the social support. Implications and suggestion for future studies was discussed.
