본 연구의 목적은 Glasser(1998, 2003)의 현실요법을 적용한 교사들의 정신건강 증진 프로그램을 개발하고, 그 효과를 검증하는 것이다. 먼저 기존의 현실요법에 관한 문헌검토와 현실요법 전문가 자문회의를 통하여 프로그램의 내용과 운영 및 진행방법을 결정한 후 예비 프로그램을 개발하였으며, 예비
프로그램을 실시한 후 참여자의 피드백 분석, 전문가 자문회의를 통하여 수정 보완, 확정하였다. 이렇게 개발된 프로그램의 효과를 검증하기 위하여 사전-사후-추수(3개월 후) 검사, 통제집단 실험설계를 활용하였으며, 참여자는 현직교사 33명(실험집단 15명, 대기자 통제집단 18명)이었다. 정신건강을 측정
하는 검사도구로서 우울, 특성분노, 특성불안, 심리적 안녕감 척도를 사용하였다. 자료처리를 위한 통계방법으로는 집단(실험, 통제) X 검사실시 시기(사전, 사후, 추수) 반복측정 분산분석, 단순 주효과 분석, 단순대비검정 등을 사용하였다. 효과 검증 결과, 본 프로그램은 교사의 정신건강 증진에 유의미하게 효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다.
The purpose of this study was to develop a group training program for enhancing mental health of teachers and to examine the effects of the program. First the Mental Health Promotion Program for Teachers was developed by the researchers and other experts in the area of William Glasser`s Choice Theory and Reality therapy. The
program was designed to enhance human relationship behaviors, which are considered as the key elements of mental health. The major concepts of the program were for example responsibility of the choice, internal-external control, total behavior, basic needs, the quality world and so on. Based upon the results of the pilot study the
program developed was found to be effective for increasing mental health of the participants. In order to examine the effects of the program the following methodology was employed. First 33 teachers who resided in ``T`` city and the neighbor districts participated in the study voluntarily. They were assigned into either one of two conditions:
15 in experiment group and 18 in control group. The program was implemented by the first researcher under the supervision of the second researcher for 3 hours once a week for ten weeks. The instruments utilized were the Korean versions of Beck Depression Inventory, Trait Anger Scale, Trait Anxiety Scale, and Psychological
Well-Being Scale. The participants were asked to complete the instruments before, after, and in 3 months after the program. The data obtained were analyzed by Repeated Measures ANOVA with Simple Contrast tests. The results showed that the effect of the program was significant in improving mental health of teachers and the
effect was maintained up to 3 months after the program. The results implied that the program of the study could be used for enhancing teachers` mental health.
