This study had the following two objectives: 1) To develop a Web-based Counseling Program(WBCP) for enhancing employee`s stress management capabilities. 2) To investigate the effects of the WBCP in a real workplace setting. The WBCP provides systematically organized contents designed to help individuals cope with psycho-social problems and achieve personal growth through the interactive function of the Web. The WBCP consists of 6 sessions. The basic structure of the WBCP was as follows: Main Course (6 sessions), Bonus Course (Appendix and Self-Check), and Board (Feedback, Information, Q & A). The WBCP was designed to give the client an interactive experience with the counselor as in the case of face-to-face counseling. The WBCP was administered to the employees of the company S. 44 people in experimental group and 25 people in control group. Analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) was conducted with the pre-treatment score as covariate to compare the ``Stress Response``, and the ``Stress Coping Ability``. In the experimental group, the Stress Response decreased significantly and the Stress Coping Ability increased more than that of the control group. The effect size was relatively higher or similar as compared to that of the face-to-face group counseling. These results showed that the WBCP which integrated the physical, cognitive, affective, and behavioral techniques might be an effective tool for enhancing employees` stress management capabilities. The strengths of the WBCP confirmed in this study were as follows: 1) The WBCP can provide counseling services to multiple clients with limited numbers of counselors; 2) The WBCP enables the delivery of standardized interventions by minimizing the counselor variation and providing the pre-programed interactive process. This study also suggests that the WBCP may be a new approach to counseling service.
