본 연구의 목적은 영재아동과 일반아동이 지각하는 부모의 양육태도와 진로성숙도의 관계를 조사하여 이들 두 집단 간에 차이와 특성이 있는지를 알아보는 것이었다. 연구대상으로는 부산시내에 거 주하는 초등학교 4, 5학년 학업영재아동 74명과 일반아동 83명이 참여하였다. 연구결과를 살펴보면, 첫째, 일반아동에 비해 영재아동이 지각하는 부모의 양육태도가 애정, 자율, 성취, 합리지향 모두에 서 유의미하게 높았다. 둘째, 영재아동은 일반아동에 비해 진로성숙도가 높았고, 하위요인 중 진로 지향성과 직업의 이해는 유의미한 차이가 없었으나 진로선택의 합리성, 자긍심, 자기이해, 자율성이 일반아동에 비해 높았으며, 직업적 성편견은 낮은것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 영재아동은 부모의 양육 태도를 자율지향적이고, 애정지향적으로 지각할수록 진로성숙도가 높아지는 반면 일반아동은 부모 의 양육태도를 성취지향적이고 애정지향적으로 지각할수록 진로성숙도가 높아지는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 지금까지 거의 연구되지 않았던 초등영재아동이 지각하는 부모의 양육태도와 진로성숙도의 관계를 일반아동과 비교하여 검토함으로써, 영재아동의 진로에 관한 계속적인 연구와 아동 의 특성에 따른 진로상담의 필요성을 환기시켰다는 데 그 의의가 있다.

The purpose of the study was to investigate relationship between career maturity and perceived parenting attitudes of gifted and average children, and understand differences and characteristics of the two groups. The sample of this study consisted of two groups: 74 gifted children and 83 average children in Pusan. The results were as follows; First, the gifted children showed higher scores than the average children in overall perceived parenting attitudes and in all subscales. Second, the gifted children showed higher career maturity than average children. The gifted children scored higher in five subscales of career maturity out of seven. However, significant differences were not found in the career-orientation and vocational understanding. Third, the results of canonical correlation analysis showed that a) self-regulation oriented patenting attitude was the most important variable in predicting the level of career maturity of the gifted children,; and that b) achievement oriented patenting attitude was the most important variable in predicting the level of career maturity of the average children. In sum, the results of this study revealed differences in career maturity and perceived parenting attitudes between gifted and average children, and suggested the need of appropriate career counseling for both gifted and average children.
