본 연구는 죽음 분야의 연구에서 대표적인 학술지인 ``Death Studies``의 연구논문들과 국내 학술지 논 문들을 분석하여 ``사별`` 분야의 최근 연구 동향을 파악하고 향후 연구의 전망을 밝히기 위해 수행 되었다. 본 연구를 위해 2000년부터 2006년 여름까지의 6년 6개월 간 발표된 연구물들을 수집하였다. Death Studies에 게재된 75편, 국내 학술지에 발표된 9편을 합하여 총 84개의 논문이 분석되었다. 논문들은 발표연도, 주제어, 연구주제, 연구방법, 연구대상, 통계분석 방법을 기준으로 분석되었다. 분석 결과에 따르면 국내외 공히, 가장 많은 연구물들이 조사연구 방법으로 수행되었으며 다음으로 많은 연구논문들이 Death Studies에서는 리뷰연구(23편)에 의해, 국내 연구에서는 질적 연구(4편)에 의 해 수행되었다. 연구주제별 분석에서, Death Studies에서는 ``사별의 슬픔 극복과 조력(43편)``이 압도적으로 높은 빈도로 나타났으며 국내 연구에서는 ``죽음의 의미와 태도`` ``사별의 슬픔 극복과 조력``, ``자살``이 각 2편으로 고르게 높은 빈도로 나타났다. 가장 대표적인 연구대상층은 ``사별한 이들``이었다. 가장 많은 연구들이 사용한 통계 분석 방법은 t-test와 일원변량분석 등을 사용한 차이 검증 (Death Studies 13편)으로 나타났으며 그 외 다변량분석, 상관분석, 요인 분석을 사용한 논문을 합하면 양적 연구 논문 전체의 88%에 달하는 것으로 나타났다. 죽음 연구의 다른 분야와 마찬가지로 사 별 및 애도 분야의 연구는 해외와 국내에서 모두 증가하고 있는 추세인 것으로 확인되었다. 사별 및 애도 분야에서 보다 효율적인 조력과 중재를 할 수 있기 위해서는 현상학적인 연구들이 더 활발 하게 이루어질 필요가 있음을 논의하였으며 이를 위해 질적, 양·질 통합 방법에 의한 연구가 활성 화될 필요가 있음을 제언하였다.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the contents and trend of bereavement and grief in Death Studies and domestic studies for 6.5-year period(2000-2006) and to suggest the direction for future research. A total of 84 articles(75 in Death Studies, 9 in domestic articles) were analyzed with regard to published year, key-word, main theme, research method, subjects, statistical analytic methods. Of the research analyzed, most of studies were used survey and review in Death studies, qualitative method in domestic studies. In the research themes of Death Studies, ``overcoming bereavement and helping bereaved`` made the highest frequencies. In domestic studies, ``meaning & attitude to death``. ``overcoming bereavement & helping bereaved``, ``suicide`` made same frequencies. Typical samples contained bereaved people through bereavement process. The most popular statistical analytic method was a difference verification using t-test or analysis of variance. Research on bereavement and grief in Death Studies as well as other disciplines in Korea are increasing. However more research to explore the phenomenon and to develop intervention programs are needed.
