이 논의의 목적은 읽기 교육의 관점에서 읽기 프레임의 특징을 살피는 데 있다. 프레임이라는 말은 일정한 틀을 가진 대상을 폭넓게 지칭하는 말인데 이 논의에서는 읽기 활동의 측면에 초점을 맞추어 살펴보았다. 프레임의 관점에서 보면, 사람은 자신이 가진 프레임을 통하여 대상을 인식하고 행동한다. 그런 점에서 독자도 글을 때에는 읽기 프레임에 따라 읽기 행위를 하고 의미를 구성한다. 읽기 프레임은 독자가 읽기를 학습하고, 글을 읽는 과정에서 형성된다. 읽기 프레임은 여러 가지 읽기 관련 요소들로 이루어져 있고, 이들 요소들의 특성에 따라 그 특징을 갖게 된다. 읽기 프레임의 특징을 드러내는 대표적인 구성 요소들은 정체된 배경지식, 습성화된 읽기 기능, 범주화된 도서 정보, 고착적 읽기 목적, 전일적 주제 탐구 의지, 정형화된 읽기 습관과 태도 등이다. 이들 요소들은 유기적으로 결합하여 읽기 프레임을 이루고 있으며, 독자의 읽기 활동에 관계한다. 이 읽기 프레임에 대하여 읽기 교육에서 관심을 가질 필요가 있다. 읽기 교육을 통하여 학생이 읽기 프레임의 존재를 알고, 형성하여 활용할 수 있게 하는 것이 필요하다.

The purpose of this study is to consider the characteristic of reading frame for reading instruction. In order to accomplish this study purpose, the following study questions are to define concept and characteristic of reading frame. A word of ‘frame’ has a variety of meaning which represents a fixed pattern of an object, a thing and an event. In this study, the frame is a psychological system that supports person`s understanding of the world. A people recognizes the object on the basis of the frame. Also the reader understands a text through the reading frame which is a set pattern of an cognitive organization for the reader`s comprehension of texts. The reader understands the meaning of books by the assistance of the reading frame. The reading frame is the reader`s psychological system that supports reader`s reading behavior and constructing of meaning from the books. In other words, the reading frame manages and controls the reading activity of reader. The reading frame does not correspond with the general frame. It`s peculiarity is originated psychological process of reader in reading activity. The characteristic of reading frame comes out by traits of it`s the components. The essential elements of reading frame that exhibits the special characters are the stagnant schema, the acquired reading skills, the categorized book informations, the fixed reading aim, the sole pursuit will for reading theme, the set pattern reading habit and attitude and so on. Those factors of reader frame are build up reading education and repeated reading activity. The while in the reading education was not concerned about the reading frame. For the future the reading education should be interested in reading frame for improving to student`s reading ability.
