Along with this, on the other hand, the second objective of this paper is to sketch the contours of some ‘model of self(hood)’ based on such model of act. It will propose (with caution) this model of selfhood, which does not simply ‘accept’ the given conditions of this world but harbors a will to ‘shape’ them in any way, as a common characteristic of Russian thinkers inclusive of Lotman, namely, a distinctive feature of ‘Russian subject(ivity).’ This attempt is of help to reconsider characteristics of ‘Russian attitude’ towards some crucial categories surrounding the concept of self, such as reality, freedom, and creativity.
