The purpose of this study was to identify the number of latent classes based on 7 subscales of Internet Addiction Proneness Scale (K-Scale; Kim et al., 2002) and to analyse the patterns of identified latent classes. In addition, it was tested whether the variables such as sex, depression, and hostility significantly predict the odds of latent classes. The study analysed the data of 1,977 elementary and middle school students. As a result, it appeared that there were 9 latent classes identified, but only 6 latent classes were shown to be potential or high risk classes. Each latent class was named by ``across-the-board high risk class``, ``tolerance-withdrawal high risk class``, ``across-the-board potential risk group``, ``externalizing problems potential risk class``, ``disturbance of reality testing potential risk class``, and ``tolerance-withdrawal potential risk class``. About 1.6% of the participants were classified as ``across-the-board high risk class`` of which mean scores on all 7 subscales were in the top 10%. About 1.8% of the participants were classified as ``tolerance-withdrawal high risk class`` which scored high on tolerance, addictive automatic thought, and withcjddrawal subscales. Individuals in this latent class tend to be favorable for Internet use, to use the Internet long hours, and to experience withdrawal symptoms such as being impatient when stopping the Internet. About 4.6% of the participants classified as the across-the-board potential risk latent class were in top 10% for withdrawal, deviate behavior, and disturbance of reality testing. The ``externalizing problems potential risk class`` which consists of about 6.3% participants showed the pattern that mean scores on disturbance of adaptive functions and deviate behavior were in top 10%. The ``disturbance of reality testing potential risk class`` were in top 1% for disturbance of reality testing, but its scores on other subscales were on average. Lastly, ``tolerance-withdrawal potential risk class`` showed the similar pattern to ``tolerance-withdrawal high risk class`` but its levels were lower on the whole. Limitation, implication, and future directions were discussed.
