이 연구는 한국어 학습자들을 위한 공간어 ‘앞/뒤’의 어휘 정보를 분석하여 어휘 교육 자료로써 활용할 수 있는 방안을 모색하는 데 그 목적을 두었다. 한국어 ‘앞/뒤’는 고빈도 기초 어휘로서 그 의미 영역이 폭넓고 단어 형성도 활발하다. 고빈도 기초 어휘는 다의성이 강하기에 이에 대한 의미 분석이 필요하다. 이를 위해 기존의 사전 의미를 검토하면서 ‘앞/뒤’의 다양한 어휘 의미와 해당 의미의 빈도도 아울러 고찰하였다. 또한 의미 확장의 양상과 단어 형성에서의 특징도 살펴보았다. ‘앞/뒤’는 공간을 기본 의미로 하여 순서 및 시간, 추상으로 확장되며 이 때 단어 형성에서도 기본 의미의 특징을 반영하고 있음을 살필 수 있었다. 특히 단어 형성에서 모국어 화자들이 갖는 공간어에 대한 인식도 반영됨을 알 수 있었다. 이를 바탕으로 한국어 학습자들에게 효과적인 어휘 의미 교육에 대한 방안을 모색하였다. 모국어 화자의 경우, 어휘 의미의 확장에 따른 의미 해석이 용이하지만 한국어 학습자들에게는 체계적인 다의어 교육과 관련된 내용이 마련되어야 한다. 이를 위해 ‘앞/뒤’의 다양한 의미를 등급별로 나누었고 ‘앞/뒤’가 결합된 단어들도 등급별로 나누어 제시해 보았다.

The purpose of this study is to present the teaching methods of korean spacial words for L2 learners. The study focused on the polysemous noun, ‘ap (앞)/dwi(뒤)’. The ‘ap(앞)/dwi(뒤)’ are high frequency words and these meanings are extended in the context variedly. It is easy for the native speakers to interpret varied meanings in the context but it is difficult for the L2 learners. For the effective lexical learning, this study deals with the features related to the expansion based on the L2 learners` intellectual ability. First of all this study analyzed the dictionary meaning, then established system of the lexical information of ‘ap(앞)/dwi(뒤)’. These meanings are divided into three scopes：space, time, abstraction. The spacial meaning is basic and gradually those meanings are extended from spacial meaning to time meaning and abstraction meaning. These meanings influence the word formations. In addition this study investigated meaning frequency of ‘ap(앞)/dwi(뒤)’ in previous studies. Then suggested meaning order for L2 learners by considering the degree of difficulty. Ultimately this study presents educational meaning graduation and lexical teaching materials of ‘ap(앞)/dwi(뒤)’ for L2 learners.
