본 논문은 南公轍의 園林記文과 臥遊와의 관련성을 고찰하기 위해 작성되었다. 남공철은 순조조 관각문신이자 경화세족으로서 여러 원림들을 造營하면서 자신의 원림의 美感을 전하는 작품들을 다수 남겼다. 그 중에서도 특징적인 작품으로 又思潁亭과 玉磬山莊을 그린 작품들을 선택했다. 이 두 원림은 서로 인접해있고 宜陽子라는 같은 인물을 각 작품에서 등장시키고 있지만, 작품의 분위기도 전반적으로 다르며 의양자의 모습 또한 다르게 나타난다. 「又思潁亭記」는 歐陽脩가 潁州로 돌아가고 싶어 했던 풍모를 흠모하여 남공철도 자신의 원림이 있는 遁村으로 致仕한 뒤에 돌아가고자 하는, 歸隱에 대한 다짐을 적은 글이다. 이 작품은 우사영정을 의양자가 자신의 현재 상태로는 노닐 수 없는 공간으로 인식하게 그려놓고, 나중에 이상적으로 귀은을 이룬 뒤에 구양수의 풍모에 자신이 합일되기를 기원하는 서술방식을 바탕으로 하고 있다. 「玉磬山莊記」에서는 의양자를 市隱者로 등장시켜서 소요하고 있는 모습을 그려냈다. 이 작품은 의양자가 朝廷을 비롯한 外物과의 관계에서 철저하게 거리를 둔 채 閒逸하게 원림에서 노닐며 臥遊 文化를 즐기고 있도록 서술하는 방식을 기저에 두고 있다. 남공철은 「옥경산장기」의 의양자와 같이 원림을 조영하면서 당시에 유행한 와유문화를 즐겼을 뿐만 아니라, 산수화, 그리고 산수유기를 통해서 자신이 가고 싶어 하지만, 갈 수 없는 공간에 대한 미감을 느끼려고 했다. 본고에서 살펴본 원림기문 역시 이러한 와유문화의 연장선 상에서 이해해볼 때, 남공철 자신이 관직에 얽매여 자신이 아끼는 원림으로 가지 못했을때 와유를 통해 그 갈증을 해소하기 위해 창작된 것으로 보인다.

This essay is written on the purpose of researching the relationship between Garden literature and Wa-yu臥遊. Nam Gong Chul南公轍 was a literary officer in the Sun-jo純祖 regime and one of Kyoung-hwa-se-jok京華世族, so he owned many gardens and made many literary works for leaving the beauties of his gardens on record. In this essay, two garden literatures were taken, which were describing Woo-sa-young-jung又思潁亭, Ok-gyoung-san-jang玉磬山莊. These two gardens were close each other, and appearing the character whose name is I-yang-ja宜陽子, but the work atmospheres are not like each other and the attitude of I-yang-ja is different in each work. The garden literature for Woo-sa-young-jung is writing about the promise of I-yang-ja, who hopes to make up Gui-eun歸隱 by coming back to his hometown, Dun-chon遁村 after resigning from government, which was inspired by Goo-yang-soo歐陽脩 who had always hope to come back to his hometown, Young-ju潁州. In this work, a certain narrative style is taken, in which the writer makes the character recognize the garden as the space where he cannot stay in ease unless he resign from government, and makes the character hope to become like Goo-yang-soo by making up Gui-eun. The garden literature for Ok-gyoung-san-jang appears I-yang-ja as the Si-eun-ja市隱者, who lives as a hermit, but in the middle of the mundane world. This work takes the narrative style in which the writer describes the character as someone who keeps himself away from the mundane things, including government and stays in ease with enjoying the Wa-yu臥遊 culture. In fact, Nam-gong-chul, like I-yang-ja in the garden literature for Ok-gyoung-san-jang, enjoyed the culture by gardening his own gardens, and appreciating the landscape paintings, the prose about sightseeing the beauty of nature and tried to recall or imagine the beauty of the place where he wanted to go, but can`t. The garden literatures in this essay also can be apprehended, in the category of Wa-yu臥遊 culture, as the literary works which were made in a purpose of soothing the desire to go some places where he wanted to go, but can`t, in the way of Wa-yu臥遊.
