The purpose of this study is to examine the effective use of storytelling for the development of communicative skill in elementary school English. Storytelling gives very positive influence to children in usual communication. It helps students to improve listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. It is very useful to draw children`s interest and motivation about learning English. Besides, it can encourage their imagination, creativity and understanding other cultures. Teachers should try to do their best in teaching elementary students storytelling. So they should develop teaching methods that may best utilize the storytelling. The results of this study can be shown as follow: First, stories are useful as English learning materials in elementary English education. Second, stories can be modified and the restructured stories are effective supplementary materials for elementary school students. (Gongju National University of Education)
