The Study on the Multi-cultural Students` Understanding of Korean for Learning -Focusing on History Area of Elementary Social Studies-

This paper was written to present the teaching direction of Korean for learning by identifying their understanding of Korean for learning, depending on a variety of groups of Multi-cultural students. In this study, the types and concepts of vocabulary that are needed for learning were regulated. Then, a research of general and multi-cultural students` understanding according to the type of Korean for learning was conducted. Students were divided into two different groups: international marriage family and migrant worker family. As a result of the research, there was a little difference among general family, international marriage family and migrant worker family. Through this, the paper suggests a change in the teaching method of Korean for learning and material making, relying on the group of Multi-cultural students. (Seoul National University of Education)
