자전거의 이용은 개인의 건강, 지구 환경오염을 줄이기 위해서도 국가적 차원에서 적극적으로 권유되고 있는 것이 세계적인 추세이다. 이를 효과적으로 활성화하기 위해서는 개인 소유의 자전거를 활용하는 것뿐 아니라 정부차원에서 공공자전거를 운영해 사용자들이 부담 없이 편리하게 이용할 수 있어야 한다. 이때 중요한 것은 도심 공공자전거의 이용방법 도모와 유지, 관리 시스템이다. 본 연구는 공공자전거 이용 활성화를 위하여 기존의 공공자전거 시스템을 조사, 분석하여 그 시스템들이 공통적으로 갖고 있는 운영적 문제점들을 보완하고자 하였다. 시각적으로 보여지는 자전거, 로고, 등의 통일된 디자인뿐 만 아니라 공공자전거의 운영 시스템 자체를 디자인하여 이 모든 것들이 하나의 흐름으로 돌아가도록 설계하였다. 또한 기업의 마케팅 전략을 참고하여, 공공 자전거 이용을 통해 얻어지는 사회적, 경제적 이익들이 사용자의 동기부여가 될 수 있도록 적용하였다. 본 연구는 공공자전거부터 운영방법까지 통합적으로 디자인하여 의도한 바를 보다 확실히 이루어 나갈 수 있도록 공공자전거 시스템 자체를 디자인하였다는데 의의가 있다.

The use of bicycles is in the trend of being actively recommended around the world on a national scale for the health of an individual and for reduction of environmental pollution of the earth. In order to utilize such trend and revitalize the use of bicycles, instead of urging people to own their own bicycles and ride them, the government should operate public bicycles to allow everyone to use the bicycles without any burden. A city public bicycle system for usage, maintenance and management of bicycles is important in allowing people to use the bicycles freely. In order to revitalize the use of public bicycles, this research attempted to supplement the problems that are presently common in public bicycle systems by researching and analyzing the existing public bicycle systems, and also attempted to apply the motivation of users that are used in numerous marketing strategies. Not only the bicycle, logo and others that are visually seen, but also the operating system of public bicycles itself was designed from a creative perspective, and all these elements were designed to operate smoothly as a single flow. This research is to design the bicycles from visible areas to the broader area of operation method from a new perspective for the design of a system that can achieve the intended objectives clearly and certainly.
