멀티태스킹 환경을 지원하고, 키패드가 없어진 새로운 인터페이스 디자인으로 구성된 스마트폰은 사용자에게 더욱 많은 인지적 정보 처리 과정을 요구하고 있다. 그러나 노년층의 새로운 정보통신 기기의 접근 및 수용, 인지적, 신체적 특성에 대한 연구와 상품의 개발이 미비하므로, 이에 노년층이 스마트폰을 편리하고 쉽게 사용하게 하기 위한 UI디자인의 기초 자료가 될 수 있는 연구가 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 연구의 범위를 시각적 인터페이스 디자인으로 한정하고, 먼저 65세 이상의 노년층이 스마트폰의 인터페이스를 사용하는데 있어서 어려운 점을 조사하여 새로운 디자인을 제작하고 면접 및 실험을 통해 노인들을 위한 스마트폰의 UI 디자인을 위한 디자인의 가이드라인을 제시하였다. 연구의 결과 노인들이 편리하게 스마트폰을 사용하기 위한 UI 디자인에서는 가까이에 있는 작은 시각물을 잘 식별할 수 있도록 글자 및 아이콘의 크기, 컬러의 식별성, 밝기, 폰트 등에서 적절한 조절이 필요하며 친숙하지 못한 UI 사용에 대한 인지능력, 촉각, 멀티태스킹 환경에서 필요한 집중력과 기억력의 둔화로 인한 문제점이 발견되었으므로 한 화면에서 동시에 제공되는 정보의 양과 움직임의 속도를 줄이고, 단순한 구조와 직관적인 시각적 표현도 필요하다. 연구의 결과가 노인을 위한 스마트폰 인터페이스 디자인의 개선을 위해 활용되고, 노인 정보 소외의 격차가 좁혀질 수 있기를 기대한다.

In this study, limited to research a range of interface design, for difficulties to use smartphone Interface of over 65 years of age. Based on this creates a new design improvements presented design guidelines for smartphone``s UI design for the elderly. In UI design for seniors in easy to use smartphones, it``s important to design distinguishable small visual objects in close.There are required appropriate adjustments in text and icon size, color distinguish, brightness, etc.it``s needed Simple structure and an intuitive visual representation and reducing the information provided on a screen at the same time and the speed of movement because that has been found problem of cognitive about the use of unfamiliar UI, tactile, slowing concentration and memory in a multitasking environment.We should expect to narrow the gap of information of alienation and to improve the utilization of smartphone interface design for the elderly through this study.
