현대사회의 복잡계 현상들은 더 이상 근대 이후 각 분야별로 전문화된 지식으로는 파악되기 힘들다. 이런 맥락에서 융합은 21세기 디지털 문명사회의 가장 중요한 키워드가 되고 있다. 그런데 모든 분야에서 융합이라는 거대담론을 논하며 그 필요성에 대해 공감은 하고 있으나 융합을 실천하는 구체적 방안들은 아직 적극적으로 모색되지 못하고 있는 실정이다. 융합은 단순히 이질적인 분야들이 만나는 것만으로 구현되기는 힘들다. 각 분야들의 만남을 넘어서 구체적으로 화학작용을 일으킬 때 진정한 융합이 이루어질 수 있으며 이를 위해서는 타 분야에 대한 관심과 연구가 선행되어야 한다. 본 논문은 역사적으로 전혀 다른 맥락에서 발전되어 온 의학과 예술 간의 상호교차적 소통을 통해서 융합 문화현상을 구체적으로 고찰하는 것을 목표로 하고 있다. 이를 위해서 본 논문은 의학이 예술에 미친 영향들에 대한 사례들을 살펴보고 또한 역으로 예술이 의학에 영향을 끼친 구체적인 보기들을 분석하고 있다. 나아가 의학과 예술이 융합된 메디컬아트들에 대한 사례들을 통하여 오늘날 의학과 예술이 구체적으로 어떻게 네트워크 되고 있는지를 살펴본다. 나아가 의학과 예술의 융합이 어떠한 새로운 담론을 창출할 수 있을 것이며, 그 새로운 담론이 각 분야에 어떠한 상호보완적 영향을 줄 수 있을 것인지 그 가능성을 모색하고자 한다.

Current society`s complex phenomenon can no longer be understood simply through the specialized knowledge of separate fields. Because of this, convergence is the most important keyword of the 21st century`s digital civilization. In all fields, the great discourse on merging is dealt with and its necessity is agreed upon, but the reality is that the specific plan for putting convergence into practice is not found. Convergence cannot simply be expressed by different fields meeting together. Going beyond the meeting of various fields, there should be a chemical reaction for a true merging to take place, and in order to do this, preceding studies and interests must take place. This article aims to investigate specifically the converged cultural phenomenon through the mutual intersection of medicine and art, which has developed throughout history in drastically different contexts. For this, the article will examine cases in which medicine has affected art, and those in which art has affected medicine. Moreover, through the cases of medical art, in which medicine and art are converged together, it will examine exactly how today`s medicine and art are networked. In addition, it hopes to discover what discourses can be produced from the convergence of medicine and art, and how that new discourse will be able to affect each field with a mutual supplement.
