최근 복합상업시설의 개발사례를 중심으로 엔터테인먼트 개념도입이 사업의 성공을 가늠하는 중요한 요소로 주목 받고 있다. 이에 많은 프로젝트들이 검토되거나 계획 중에 있지만 아직까지 건축계획적인 측면의 접근방법으로 공간구성 및 배치 특성에 대한 원칙이 수립되지 못하고 있는 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 최근에 수도권에서 개발된 엔터테인먼트 상업시설 가운데 유형의 특성을 대표할 수 있다고 판단되는 사례 6개소(쥬네브, 메타폴리스, 라페스타, 웨스턴돔, 코엑스몰, 타임스퀘어)를 선정하여 공간구성 및 배치특성을 동일한 기준으로 분석한 결과, 엔터테인먼트형 복합상업시설은 개발형태별로 건물형, 복합형, 지구형으로 구분할 수 있으며 쇼핑몰의 확장으로 볼 수 있는 건물형 보다는 가로형 개념이 포함된 복합형이 고객의 만족도가 높은 것을 확인 하였다. 이는 실제로 가로를 중심으로 배치된 식음과 판매용도의 배치특성과 중앙광장 및 보행자 가로와 복합된 엔터테인먼트 시설을 앵커로 한 공간구성과 관련이 있음을 의미한다. 따라서 향후 엔터테인먼트 복합상업시설 계획 시에는 도시적인 측면에서 지역과 밀접하게 연계되어야 하고 엔터테인먼트 용도는 가장 핵심적인 위치에 입지 하여야 하며 사람들의 만남과 휴식, 이동이 가능한 광장의 조성이 필수적이다.

Recently, many entertainment destination (mixed use) projects are increased on existing urban areas and commercial areas of new towns. Successful projects among them are mostly formed with entertainment facility. Thus, the purpose of this study is to analyze types of existing entertainment destination projects and investigate spatial structure and site planning issues of these project types. As a case study, 6 recent development projects - Jun wave, Metapolis, La festa, Western dom, COEX mall, Time square - were selected in terms of location and development methods. We conducted on-the-spot whole survey and drawing analysis. And On the basis of these analysis, three issues are raised as major factors of successful project. Firstly, existing entertainment destinations are classified with independent building type, complex (street) type, and district type. Next, financial assistance and administrative participation of public realm are need to catalyze district type entertainment destinations in existing urban areas because there weren`t any district type projects in Korea. Finally, complex (including street type) destinations are more satisfied than independent building types. So contextual layout and arrangement of public gathering place and pedestrian path with retail and entertainment facilities are most important elements for next entertainment destinations design.
