본 연구는 합리적 한의원 계획을 위한 디자인 지침으로써 이용 가능한 실증적인 기초 자료를 제공하는데 그 목적을 두고, 문헌고찰 및 표본조사를 통하여 한의원 공간계획의 정성적 지침과 공간 시설규모 산정을 위한 회귀식을 도출하였다.

This study was undertaken to gain an understanding of the spatial organizations of oriental medicine clinics (OMCs) and furnish data for more efficient architectural planning. The results were as follows:First, the space of OMCs can be divided into four sections (consultation, diagnosis, treatment, clinic management and herbal medicine) according to the medical service content actually performed. Second, the oriental medical services (OMS) have specific spatial properties compared to modern medical services. Therefore, their properties are spatially considered for good planning. Third, the analysis of the spatial size of 65 currently operational OMCs reveals that the largest occupation area is treatment (35%); followed by clinic management (waiting room, reception desk), herbal medicine (dispensary, decocting room), and consultation.
