This thesis aims to research on the Whasa( 花史) itself, neither about the writer nor the social background etc. It will be focused on the writing method, the plot, and the style of Whasa, especially on the historical writing style and aesthetical intention of Whasa. The Whasa is a history of flowers plotted by human beings, not a real history but a fictitious story. This work was written neither the satire nor criticize on the Middle Ages. Of course, it was not created for his writing. The writer tried to contemplate the world of flowers made by himself. For this, he described the history of flowers like that of human beings. He hoped to sympathize for the world of flowers, and expand it to the infinite boundary of beauty in nature. The writer made up the systematic oder of times in the world of flowers. There were Gapyeong(嘉平), Jongwha(中和), Gamro(甘露), and Duksu(德 水). Each of them consist of 5 or 6 years, and every year are 12 days. And it started from December 1st and ended up August 30th. The order of times was an idealistic change of its history created by writer. He want to constitute the perfect history of flowers from the blooms to the withering of flowers. This was the attempt to experience the ideal world of flowers, and go into the contemplation of cosmic order, that is, the experience of esthetic beauty. He expected to attain the indiscriminate cognitions between human beings and flowers. This means that the writer tried to get the ultimate harmony between human beings and comic principles.
