최근 휴대폰 무선인터넷이 급격한 발전을 이루면서 높은 사용률을 보여주고 있으나 실제로 주로 사용되고 있는 서비스는 현재 휴대폰 무선인터넷 기술의 발전 수준에 미치지 못하고 있다. 이는 아직 휴대폰 무선인터넷이 제공하고 있는 풍부한 서비스들이 충분히 사용되지 못하고 있고, 단지 무선인터넷 기능을 휴대폰 기기를 사용하는데 필요한 부가기능 정도로만 여겨지고 있다고 볼 수 있다. 이러한 현상의 원인 중, 인지적으로 불확실성 회피성향이 높은 우리나라에서는 새로운 기술에 대해서 낮은 사용도의 결과를 낳는다는 연구 결과가 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 이러한 휴대폰 무선인터넷에 대한 불확실성을 유사 매체 양식(modelity)인 유선인터넷의 사용 경험을 통해서 해소시킬 수 있을 것이라는 가정아래, 지도 검색서비스를 통하여 유선인터넷의 경험이 휴대폰 무선인터넷에 대한 사용자들의 불확실성 감소 또는 해소 효과를 검증해보고자 한다. 연구의 방법은 사용자 실험으로 특정 컨텐츠의 서비스에 대해서 유선인터넷 경험의 유무에 따라서 휴대폰 무선인터넷의 사용 시간 측정과 수행 과정 관찰, 불확실성과 사용성에 대한 설문 명가 응답의 결과로 이루어졌다. 본 연구를 통해서 새로운 매체의 기술 및 서비스의 불확실성 해소와 사용성 향상을 위한 유사매체 양식을 적용한 인지적 모델의 개발과 정보 제공의 체계화가 이루어질 수 있을 것이라고 기대한다.

Although the rapid development of wireless internet connection through mobile phones is showing high use rate recently, the services being used are very limited. The users think of the wireless internet as only an additional function on the mobile phone and hence the various services readily available with the wireless internet connection through mobile phones are not being fully utilized. Out of a number of causes leading to this observation, there is a research done on uncertainty avoidance tendency as one of the cause. The uncertainty avoidance tendency is a concept that shows a low use rate for a new technology and particularly in Korea the uncertainty avoidance tendency is shown to be very high. Hence, this research considered how the uncertainty avoidance tendency can be reduced by internet through wire connection, which is a similar media model. Through this research, it is expected that the development of conceptual model to reduce uncertainty avoidance and to increase the use for the new media, and the systematization of the information provision can be achieved.
