인간이 길을 찾는 과정에서 주변 환경 정보는 사용자의 심리적 상태와 안정성 측면에 많은 영향을 끼친다. ‘길을 잃었다’는 것은 방향감각의 상실이라는 단순한 의미뿐 아니라 응급상황발생 시 심리적인 불안감과 당혹감으로 인해 심각한 사고를 야기할 수 있기 때문이다. 따라서 복잡한 구조와 공간의 기능을 종합적으로 파악하기 위해서는 명확한 지각효과를 갖춘 사인의 역할이 무엇보다 중요하다고 볼 수 있다. 이를 위해서는 사인시스템을 제작하는 과정에서 사인의 시각적 기능뿐 아니라 길 찾기의 관점에서 겪게 되는 문제점들과 종합적인 주변 상황에 대한 충분한 배려가 필요하다. 이러한 측면으로 볼 때 사인의 디자인 일관성, 문자와 컬러 사용법 등 다양한 시각요소의 고려뿐 아니라 길을 찾는 과정 중 의사 결정을 내려야 하는 결정 포인트의 선정과 사용자 행태에 영향을 미치는 주변 환경의 종합적인 인지는 필수적 이다. 따라서 본 연구는 사인의 시각적 형태뿐만 아니라 사용자 행태의 유형과 정보처리 과정 등을 고려한 효율적인 사인시스템 제작에 필요한 개선방안을 제시하는데 그 목적이 있다.

In the process that people try to find their way, get influence on the information about the environment, which are psychological condition on user aspect, and function and stability aspect. “"Lost the way”" does not simply mean you lost a sense of direction, but also it can lead to serious accident because of a feeling of uneasiness and embarrassment when an emergency occur. To solve this problem and seek for appropriate location, we have to analyze the proper path and the space with user consideration. To do this, in the process of making sign system, it is not only essential to consider about visual function of the sign, but also think about the problems in finding ways and all environmental situations. As mentioned before, to develop efficient sign system, not only considering the element of visual like the consistency of each sign design, and the instruction of text and color, but also it is essential to know how people figure out to find their way, and also to know the environmental influence that people act. As a result, this study aims how to use visual element effectively, and considering the kind of users in making effective sign system.
