IPTV 는 기존 TV의 환경과는 다른 종류의 정보를 제공하며 차별된 인터페이스를 지닌다. IPTV 환경에서의 정보 탐색 과정에서 UI에 대한 새로운 연구 결과를 적용해야 한다. 이 연구에서는 IPTV의 UI의 분석방법으로 편집디자인의 이론을 적용하여 디자인 가이드라인을 모색해보았다. 첫 번째, 레이아웃의 구성에 있어서는 편집디자인의 그리드시스템 중 무리분수 사각형 이론에 준거한 그리드 시스템을 통해 비율을 정비하고, 독자의 시선의 흐름에 따라 사용자 입장을 분석하여 IPTV의 영상과 함께 나타나는 메뉴 바의 위치를 구성하는 것이 가능하였다. 두 번째, 타이포그래피의 연구에서는, 고딕체의 사용에서 가독성과 주목성이 높게 나타났다는 점과 서체의 크기에 따라 본문용으로는 28pt에서, 제목용으로는 34pt 에서 가독성이 높게 드러났다는 점으로 보아 편집디자인의 디자인가이드라인과 흡사한 결과를 나타내어 타이포그래피 연구의 중요성을 지닌다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 마지막으로 HDTV의 개발로 인해 실사에 가까운 화질의 개선으로 작은 텍스트들로 이루어진 다량의 정보 유출이나 도상적 아이콘과 일러스트의 사용이 용이해졌음을 여러 가지 사례를 통해 확인하였다. 따라서 인쇄물과 흡사한 형태의 구현이 가능하다는 점과 기존의 TV 와는 다른 관점에서 IPTV UI에 대한 접근이 필요하다는 접으로 미루어, 편집디자인의 선험적 사례들을 통한 연구가 의미를 갖는 다고 보았다. 본 연구를 통해 IPTV 의 UI 연구 과정에 편집디자인의 방법론을 적용하는 것이 유의미하다는 것을 확인하였다. 하지만 편집디자인은 디자인 환경이 인쇄물에 종속된다는 점을 감안할 때, IPTV 가 지니는 단말기의 기술적 특성과 환경을 이해하고 본 연구가 지니는 한계점들을 보완하여 IPTV만의 아이덴티티를 지닐 그래픽 연구가 함께 이행되어야 할 것이다.
IPTV provides different kinds of information from the existing TV and it has the dis criminative interface. I suggest that the new study result must be applied to the process of information research in UI of IPTV environment. In this study, I would like to consider the Design Guide-line of IPTV UI through analyzing on the side of Editorial Design theory. First of all, I confirmed the Editorial Design Grid system is able to apply to IPTV lay-out composition. According to Grid system, it is possible to direct the ratio, organize the location of menu bar by analyzing viewer`s sight flow. The second study of Typography, readability and attention reveals high through the result of previous experiment. In addition, according to the size of fonts, the readability appeared high on using 28pt size by the body text and 34pt by the head text. This experiment suggests the importance of Typography study. Lastly, according to improve the picture quality of HDTV, gathering plenty of information made of small texts or using iconic icon and illustration is increasing. Therefore, this study has a meaning through the empirical cases in Editorial Design in terms of the possibility to embodiment of similar form of printed matter. As a result, through this study, I verified that is meaningful to apply editorial design theory to process of IPTV UI study. However, considering of Editorial Design environment is subordinated to printed matter, limitation of this study must be complemented with understanding of technological and environmental characteristics of IPTV terminal and performed study of graphic with IPTV`s own identity.
