본 연구에서는 도시의 공공공간, 특히 도시인의 거실이라 할 수 있는 도시 광장의 디자인에 있어서 감성반응을 일으키는 요인이 무엇인지 알아보고 이러한 요인들 사이의 관계를 살펴보았다. 이를 위해 첫째, 문헌연구를 통해 도시광장 디자인의 감성적 기준을 정의하고 이러한 기준을 대표하는 디자인사례를 선별하여 각 사례에 대한 사람들의 감성반응을 측정하였다. 둘째, 측정된 감성반응과 디자인사례, 감성적 기준과의 관계를 살펴 보았다. 그 결과로서 선별된 디자인 사례들은 감성적인 것으로 평가되었으며 추출된 감성어휘와 감성성도 대부분 상관관계에 있는 것으로 나타났다. 광장디자인의 기준으로 제시된 감성범주의 구분은 감성요인으로서의 유의미한 차이를 나타내었는데, 공간디자인에서의 감성은 ‘자극의 제공’ 요인보다는 ‘활동의 지원성’, ‘상호관계’ 요인에 더욱 민감하게 반응하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 감성의 범주에 따라 이를 대표하는 감성어휘에도 차이를 나타내고 있었다. 본 연구가 시사하는 바는 다음과 같다. 감성은 주관적이며 동시에 상호작용적인 것으로 사용자와 디자인대상 간의 역동적 관계에 대한 이해를 바탕으로 접근해야 한다. 또한 감성에는 오감에 반응하는 감성 외에도 기능적인 감성과 의미적인 감성이 작용함을 알 수 있으며 이러한 범주간의 비중은 디자인 분야나 대상에 따라 개별적으로 다루어져야 할 것이다.
This study aims to examine the various factors that cause the emotional response about urban square, the public space of a city often seen as the people`s living room, and look into the relationship among those factors. For this objective, first of all, I`ve defined the standards for sensible square design through literature review, and selected design cases and measured the emotional responses of the people for each case. Secondly, I`ve checked the relationship between emotional response and its design case, and sensible factors. As a result, the selected design cases are evaluated as sensible, and the extracted words and sensibility are mostly related. The classification of sensible category, which was suggested as the standard of urban square design, shows some meaningful difference as sensible factor. The sensibility in space design was found responsive to ``the affordance to the activities,`` ``mutual relation`` factor than ``stimulus provision`` factor. Also the emotional words that represents each sensible category shows difference. This study implies as follows. Sensibility is subjective and at the same time it`s interactive. So, you have to approach it based on understanding about the dynamic relation between a user and design subject. Moreover we can see that sensibility includes not only that of senses but also the functional and meaningful sensibility. The ratio between these categories should be handled individually according to each design sector or subject.
