디지털 미디어 기술의 발달은 가전제품이나 개인용 정보기기뿐 아니라 가로환경 시설물에도 많은 변화를 가져오고 있다. 톡히 가로의 물리적 구성요소는 기존의 가로 조성올 위한 조경 및 도로계획에 디지멀 및 사이버 시설요소가 추가되면서 거리 시설물은 첨단화되고 미디어 컨텐츠와의 결합으로 가로문화때 많은 변화를 가져오고 있다. 공공 시설물에 있어서는 이러한 디지털 기술의 접목에 따른 어려움과 공간의 제약 현실화 가능성에 대한 사용자와 사물 사물과 환경 이를 둘러싼 환경적 요소인 사용자의 가로활동(인간), 물리적 환경(시설물), 사이버 환경(컨텐츠)의 구성요소를 살펴보고, 이러한 환경의 실현을 위해 필수적인 Display, GIS/GPS, Sensors, Security & Safety 와 같은 IT 관련 기술과 사회 간접자본으로서의 정보통신 인프라의 구성요소를 연구하여 디지털 가로시설물의 디자인 방향을 제시하고자 한다. 이를 위한 사회간접 시설물에 대하여 환경의 구성요소는 본 논문에서는 필요한 경우 가상의 공간으로 구성하여 시설물의 설치, 운영을 전제로 진행하고자 한다.
Progress in digital media technology has not only affected the home appliances and personal info-tainment devices but also street furniture`s and surrounding environment. Street furniture, which consisted of conventional elements, are going under tremendous transformation due to the fact that digital and cyber devices are added to landscape and street planning. This is bringing about technological advancement in street furniture and married with digital contents, street culture will go through great changes. in the domain of public space, and its facilities, study will investigate into the components if user`s street activities (human), physical environment (street furniture), cybernetic environment (content). Also difficulties in implementing digital technology limitations of public space, and manufacturability will be looked into closely. Another aim is to propose the design direction for the critical elements - display, GIS/GPS, sensors, security and safety devices-that are crucial for the realization of such environment along with the social infrastructure of information and communication. The marriages of street domain and digital technology have been implemented partially in some cities, but these cases were mainly for the expansion of the social infrastructures and convenient access to information technology and its contents rather than the actual development of hardware. This thesis will also construct, if necessary, a cyber space to effectively communicate the implementation and management of street furniture to augment the environmental components.
