This study examines literature education cases of individual school which lies outside Korean language textbooks. Although the curriculum of individual school is pivotal in primary education, it is not examined in relation to literature education. Although the curriculum of individual school does not have to do with textbooks, it is said to affect pupils since it is annually repeated and causes competition among pupils due to prize. Therefore, it is necessary to examine literature education cases of individual school which lies outside Korean language textbooks and thus to expand the scope of research of literature education. This study analyses four cases which are regarded as significant among literature education cases of individual school which lies outside Korean language textbooks. ‘Book recital’, ‘reading class on weekend’ , ‘book discussion’ ‘drama therapy for the disabled’ are the cases. At ‘Book recital’, voluntary pupils introduce books to other pupils which they find touched. Hence, ‘Book recital’ provides pupils with opportunities to communicate their daily literature experience. ‘Reading class on weekend’ improves imagination and thinking ability through spontaneous analysing and understanding characters from books. ‘Book discussion’ allows pupils to reflect upon their own thoughts and behaviour by discussing events, characters or theme of books. ‘Drama therapy for the disabled’ operates for the disabled. As such, literature education of individual school which lies outside Korean language textbooks becomes varied. On the ground of these cases, it is hoped that more specialized and individualized literature education programs will be made. This study examines literature education cases of individual school which lies outside Korean language textbooks. It is hope that this study casts a light upon a new area of research in terms of learner`s literature education.
