본고는 도스또예프스끼의 『까라마조프씨네 형제들』 중「대심문관」과김춘수의 극시「대심문관」에 공통적으로 나타나는 역사의식과 무신론에 대해 고찰하려는 목적을 갖는다. 그런데 도스또예프스끼의「대심문관」과 김춘수의「대심문관」은 창작의도가 다르다. 전자가 작품의 예술적 완성도를 위해서 사실적 요인과창작의 요소를 적절히 조화시켰다면, 후자는 역사의 폭력성과 무신론을 부각시키기 위해 사실적 요인을 축소시키고 이야기를 변형시켰다. 이러한 의도성의 차이 때문에 도스또예프스끼의「대심문관」이 김춘수의 「대심문관」보다 다양한 주제와 미학적 완성도를 확보하게 된다. 도스또예프스끼의「대심문관」은 작가의 무정부주의 사상을 바탕으로한 작품으로 반(反)그리스도 세력의 등장과 민중에 대한 억압이 무정부주의를 확대한다고 보았다. 이때 무신론을 부각시키기 위해서 성서의 에피그래프를 인용하고 썩지 않는 밀알로 이반을 설정한다. 그는 아버지의 죽음을 묵인함으로써 인신(人神)사상을 표출하는 인물이라고 할수 있다. 반면에 김춘수의 극시「대심문관」은 역사가 이데올로기이고 이데올 로기는 폭력성을 배태하고 있기에 그 부조리가 개인의 자유를 억압할 수 있음을 알리기 위해 각색되었다. 그리고 부조리한 역사를 완전히 바꿀 수 없는 현실에 절망하면서 무신론을 수용하였다. 이때 무신론적 인물로서 대심문관이 제시되었고, 그리스도의 신적인 능력보다 인간적인 측면을 더 부각시키기 위해서 특정의 사건이 제시되었다. 결국 김춘수의 극시는 원문의 양식적·내용적 변형을 시도함으로써 패러디의 형식을 취하였고 효용론적 관점도 견지하였다. 즉 김춘수의 극시는 창작 의도와 세계를 바라보는 관점과 차이가 다른 비판적 인식이자 예술적 변형이라고 할 수 있다.

The purpose of this study is contemplating the historical awareness and atheism, which appear in the dramatic poem『Grand Inquisitor』of Kim Chun-su and the『Grand Inquisitor』in the『The Brothers Karamazov』of Dostoyevsky. The creation intention of the『Grand Inquisitor』by Dostoyevsky and the creation intention of the『Grand Inquisitor』by Kim Chun-su are different from each other. Dostoyevsky had realistic factor and creative element in harmony for artistic completeness of the novel; while Kim Chun-su decreased the realistic factor and modified the story to highlight the atheism and violence of history. Because of this difference in intention, the『Grand Inquisitor』of Dostoyevsky secured more diversified theme and aesthetic completeness than the『Grand Inquisito r』of Kim Chun-su. The『Grand Inquisitor』of Dostoyevsky is based on the anarchism thought of Dostoyevsky and it viewed that the appearance of Antichrist force and the oppression on people expand anarchism. Dostoyevsky quoted the epigraphs of bible to emphasize atheism and set up the Ivan character as a non-decaying seed. Ivan is a character, who has man-god thought and connived the death of his father. On the other hand, the dramatic poem『Grand Inquisitor』of Kim Chun-su is a dramatization to tell that history is an ideology and an ideology contains violence; therefore, that irrationality can oppress the freedom of an individual. Kim Chun-su accommodated atheism while falling into despair on the reality, which cannot completely change the irrational history. The『Grand Inquisitor』is suggested at this time as an atheistic character and a specific event is also suggested to highlight human aspect than the divine ability of Christ. Consequently, the dramatic poem of Kim Chun-su took the form of a parody by modifying the form and content of original while keeping pragmatic viewpoint. In other words, the dramatic poem of Kim Chun-su is an artistic modification and critical recognition, which has different creation intention and viewpoint on the world.
