This paper investigates the pattern of Korean Chinese migration out of the Yanbian region particularly focusing on the last three decades, and also the recent change of urban commercial landscape in Yanbian and the dwellers` life culture. The concept of translocality is used as the basis of analytic framework, so as to get out of the limitation of methodological (trans-)nationalism in the research on the global migration and its effect on the life cultures and places. With the formation of the Korean Chinese world-wide social network covering the whole regions of China and 88 foreign countries, the economic and cultural ties of the people between origin and destinations have been more intensified, which cause a great change in urban life and commercial landscape of the City of Yanji, the capital city of Yanbian Korean Chinese Autonomous Prefecture. Going along with the spread of global capitalism, the globally diffused Korean Chinese have kept in touch with each other binding the origin and destinations, and thus the Autonomous Prefecture and the Yanji City have been rapidly reconstructed by the overseas influences crossing over the porous boundary. The cultural, economic, and social interaction through the remittance by Korean Chinese out-migrants has played a critical effect on the urban social change of the City of Yenju.
