본고는 공학의 학문적 특징과 공학 전공자의 의사소통 성향, 그리고 지식기반사회에서의 대학교육의 목적과 관련하여 공학도를 위한 글쓰기 교육이 나아가야 할 방향을 모색하고 이를 바탕으로 창의적 공학도를 위한 학습자 중심 글쓰기 교육의 방법과 내용을 제안하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 먼저, 내용면에서는 공학자로서의 자기 정체성에 대한 이해를 바탕으로 지구촌의 문제를 이해하고 문제에 대한 공학적 해결 방안을 모색하는 방향으로 내용을 구성하고 이러한 내용을 다루는 과정에서 발표와 토론을 통해 설명과 논증의 방식을 연습하면서 확산적 사고와 수렴적 사고를 동시에 훈련할 수 있는 내용 구성을 제안하였다. 다음으로, 교수학습법에 있어서는 공학도들의 학습 성향을 적극적으로 반영한 학습자 중심의 교수학습법을 제안하였다. 예를 들어, 주제 탐구 과정에서는 문제 중심학습법을, 내용 전달과 과제 부과의 경우, 전체적 개괄과 구체적 매뉴얼제시를, 과제 수행에 있어서는 모듬별 협동학습법과 학습 포트폴리오 활용을, 마지막으로 학습 평가에 있어서는 자기평가 및 동료평가를 포함한 다면적 평가 방법을 제안하고 이에 대한 교육적 효과에 대해 논의하였다.

The purpose of this article is to investigate the current issues in higher education and engineering profession and suggest new model of writing education for engineering students based on student centered learning. At first, we review new trend of higher education and need for student centered learning. secondly, we suggest new instruction model enhancing student learning through the introduction of student-centred learning methods and contents according to professionality of engineering major. We introduce to learning methods including problem based learning, team based collaborative learning, student potfolio, self-assessment and peer assessment considering learning disposition of engineering students. We design the contents of writing education including the topic about self-reflection as engineer, understanding Global world and engineering design for society.
